westend1
Full moon. lots of acorns, warm and rainy. Not a great deal of game moving in Junction this weekend.. i did see one nice 10 point and a few pigs. Anyone have any luck?
tvc184
Not one deer seen. I almost always see does and I would have gladly taken one or two but they were not seen either. Too many acorns. I sat in a ladder stand 17 feet off of the ground for 7 hours this afternoon until dark. I saw several fresh scrapes made last night or early this morning since the rains stopped. Lots of activity in the woods but they just aren't coming to feeders....yet.

The squirrels were out but even they and the coons weren't coming to the corn. The squirrels need to hurry up and grab those acorns for the winter and keep them away from the deer. BearBryant
Well me and my boys are going to do our best and get the squirrels away. Its their first time to ever go squirrel hunting and I believe I now have two little addicts! They like it better than deer hunting.

You actually get to pull the trigger a few times. When I was a teenager and a young adult I used to like squirrel hunting and a lot of duck hunting. Especially duck hunting back when you could kill 10 birds and actually get them most of the time. Now I don't want anything to do with duck hunting and love to deer hunt. I like the peace and quiet of the woods and the less stressful hunting situation. Old age setting in maybe? I don't squirrel hunt anymore but I would prefer the woods to the marsh. You still get the mostly peace and quiet and get to here the gun go bang every once in a while.

Something is not right about being in waders, in water when it's 30 degrees outside standing still waiting for a duck!

LMAO........it only took me one time..........I froze my butt off......took a week to feel my toes. I might attempt it again in a boat (where I stay out of the water).......but doubt I will! Lefty99
My first weekend was this last weekend. Hunting form a ground blind. Sunday morning 2 does and a 11 inch spread 6pt..probably 2.5...new antler restriction in Jasper Co. going to help that one out. Sunday evening 1 doe after being on the stand 10 minutes and gave her a dirt nap @ 20 yrds...1st ever bow kill and i acted like a little kid when i hit her...adrenaline like never before....BTW, all deer came in to the feeder so my season is looking on the up and up after last yr when they wouldn't touch my corn. Always great to get that first kill. My first bow kill was a doe and then a javelina. The 25 yard shot on the javi was a lot harder.

I though that I was going to have a coronary! I was actually impressed with how well I handled the pressure while getting ready for the shot....all that practice paid off. Just like the guys on TV when they rip off their mask and can't breathe!
