it should be a great game that will probably be in doubt until the end. i think the png defense will wear down at the end due to the methodical play of the vidor offense. they will be out there for long stretches of time. this will be png's first real test. they may not think this is true, but they will know after friday. hopefully vidor pulls this one out. btw ... the new stadium is sweet.

I think that PN-G and Vidor is going to be a tough game. It can go either way. Vidor or PN-G could have a little bit of an off game this week. No offense at all to PN-G but they barely beat a team that had a 2 year losing streak. Vidor didn't play that good against lumberton and barely came out of there alive winning by 3. I think that PN-G will have difficulty stopping the running game. Vidor will have difficulties also, no doubt, but i see Vidor pulling it out and upseting PN-G 27-20.

The score may be somewhat close maybe by a shirt-tail, but this week Vidor starts realizing the limits of their one dimensional offense.  And PNG's defense will have more stops than Vidor's D. PNG wins this one.  That's my opinion.

Vidor's offense may be one diminsional... but what they have over other teams is that they just do not have 1 featured back... they have 3 backs that are in the top 13 of all the running backs in this area.... according to the rushing stats on this stat... that is pretty impressive in its self... I am not say PN-G can't stop us, just saying its a different type of 1 dimensional... usually you have to key on 1 featured back... in this system you have to key on 3 different players at any one time... that isn't as easy... This game will be a good one no doubt, I will be pulling for my Pirates, but good luck to PN-G, to have a new coach and all they are doing awesome... good luck and congratulations for you season so far...

nobody said that vidor would key on the one back. you must really think vidor's coaches are stupid. they've watched tape of all of png's games probably 10 times, just like png's coaches have of vidor's. nobody loses this game because they aren't prepared.

Spoonbill is right.  Coach Comeaux wasn't referring to us NDN's as being one-dimensional with one featured back.  I'm sure the "coach" is well aware that PNG spreads it out and throws just as much as we run.  I think that "coach" was referring to the one-dimensional sets of Livingston.  Livingston was much easier to defend than a team like Vidor.  With that being said, I still think the NDN's will pull this one out.  They have been amazing me all year.  Why stop now?

I looked back at PNG's games and I was surprised to find out that they hold their opponents far below their season averages...  Good job PNG D!!!! 

I watched Vidor and they have really good backs.  Also, you don't need a quick O-line to block downhill... Quick D-line oly helps when it comes to pass rushing! 

I think no one should use the Central Vidor game as a level guage for either team.  It is funny how that game has turned into a friendly rilvary.  Those kids get extra amped up to play each other.. I am not saying they don't play to the highest level against everyone but rilvary games are extra special!

Vidor will do fine and so will PNG.  I think Vidor has enough to win a close game... But I would not bet money on the outcome of this slug fest... Vidor D is pretty good too!

I was probably the biggest critic against the new PNG defense coming into the season but I don't see how you can pick against the Indians this week. Just look at all of the past years . We should have beat Vidor last year and this year we are much improved on both sides of the ball. No disrespect against Vidor. I like the pirates and hope they win the rest of their games but what this game comes down to is the PNG Defense vs the Vidor offense because the Vidor defense is weak and gives up tons of yardage against average teams. PNG has played against better competition than Vidor has with the exception of Central. Crosby beat Dayton and PNG creamed them and even early on in the Memorial scrimmage we moved the ball easily against a far more athletic team. PNG slows Vidor down enough to win the game and wins close 28 - 21.  Don't forget about the PNG running game because their back is on pace to rush for 1500 yards this season which would be a school record. It's going to be next to impossible to come into the reservation and face the hottest team in SE Texas with by far the biggest fan support and win.

If this thread is any indication of what the PNG coaching staff is thinking (and I cannot believe that to be true) then I predict that Vidor will score not one buy 2 TDs through the Air at the reservation on Friday night....I hope that the Vidor D can "bend and not break" again and we come out with a win like we did against Lumberton.

Honestly, it is easy to pick against PNG... Vidor does not have a weak defense, eventhough it might not be great it is far from weak!!!! The offense will move the ball, trust me it is not that black and white.  They are one diminsional as far a running the ball goes but that beat yall last year in the game yall shoulda??????? won! and it is not that simple when it comes to playing, the Oline is for real...  We thought Dayton was pretty good, but every Dayton poster posted and knew that the team has weaknesses this year.  TC is decent but not a giant killer, and 19-4A has been 20-4A step child for years with the recent exception of Dayton.  Don't down play how good that O-line is, you wont see another like it until late in the playoffs... Good luck PNG, but trust me it will not be as simple as you think!  The meat of 20-4A is an entire other creature!
