Spanky Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Story doesnt really apply to Lamar but I didn't see anywhere else to post it...relates to University of Binghamton (and some other schools that made the move to Division I) and had "trouble". Apparently one of the possibilities mentioned for stopping this problem would be to raise the reclassification fee by a large amount. Enough to keep, I would think, Lamar from going big time in football anytime soon.
Guest coachacola Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I don't think this applies to Lamar at all since Lamar has been D1 for a long time. The moratorium that the NCAA put in place until 2011 was to stop all the D2 schools from going D1. Lamar has to fund it's athletic program from students, donations, ticket sales, etc. so that really doesn't hurt the school academically. In fact, Lamar was worse off academically after it dropped the football program, and now that football is on it's way back, a lot of money has been raised for academics.
