KFDM COOP Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 BC, Deweyville CC teams shine at meets Van Wade The Orange Leader The Bridge City Cross Country teams competed extremely well in the highly-competitive Nike South Invitational last Saturday. The Cardinal boys placed a solid fourth overall and were the top team among the 3A-and-below squads. The Woodlands ‘A’ placed first followed by The Woodlands “B†and Brazoswood. Tim Cude paced the Cardinals over the three-mile course, running it in 17 minutes, 33.4 seconds to place ninth overall. He was followed by teammates Kirby Shepherd (17th, 17:52.1), Luke Hebert (41st, 18:35.8), Armando Chavez (47th, 18:41.7), Aaron Lejuene (56th, 18:57.8), Sawyer Hogan (58th, 18:58.9) and Jose Chavez (76th, 19:26.7). The Lady Cardinals ran up a division and placed a strong fifth in the Class 5A-4A group. Katy Seven Lakes won the team title. Meagan Shockley paced the Lady Cardinals over the two-mile course, running a 14:17.0. She was followed by teammates Jessica Franklin (18th, 14:27.0), Mary Nguyen (33rd, 14:56.6), Ariel Chesson (51st, 15:21.3), Alex Holland (70th, 16:02.8), Courtney Meaux (73rd, 16:05.9), and Rosemary Truong (115th, 18:11.2). LIBERTY - The Deweyville Cross Country Teams traveled to the Liberty Invitational Cross Country Meet Saturday and saw seven of its 10 runners set personal best times. Leading the way for the Pirates was Dillon Lambright who finished 18th overall in a time of 20:11 for the 5.000 meter course. Lambright was followed by teammates Garrett Haney (21st, 20:18), Michael Nolan (23rd, 20:31), Hunter Estes (33rd 21:17), Tayber Lebeouf (34th, 21:31), and Dan Smart (39th, 22:32). Lambright, Nolan, and Smart all ran their best meet times of the year, at any distance. The Pirates finished ahead of district foes East Chambers, Anahuac, Buna and Hardin in the team contest. On a cool morning, all four Lady Pirates ran their best times of the year. On the two-mile course Amber Burks ran a scorching time of 14:33, finishing 21st overall. Miss Burks was followed by Autumn Hardin (39th, 15:58), Brittan Chance (40th, 16:05), and Skylar Webster (46th, 16:55). Three of the Lady Pirates did not compete today due illness. “We have a strong group of dedicated runners this year,†said Pirate head coach Brad Haeggquist. “We seem to be getting stronger each week and are looking for some fast times in district. Our next meet will be the 23-2A District Meet, Wednesday October 28th, at Wildwood Country Club.â€
