Showtime's six-man super middleweight tournament kicks off with two fights -- Arthur Abraham-Jermain Taylor from Berlin and Carl Froch-Andre Dirrell from Nottingham, England -- on Saturday (Showtime, 8 p.m. ET/PT; Abraham-Taylor on same-day tape, Froch-Dirrell live). The tournament continues with the third Group Stage 1 match on Nov. 21 when Mikkel Kessler faces Andre Ward in Oakland, Calif.

Here are the rest of the predetermined matchups in the modified round-robin, with an approximate time frame. All bouts will be contested under the international unified rules of boxing:

Group Stage 2

• January in the U.S.: Abraham-Dirrell.

• March in Europe: Froch-Kessler.

• Spring 2010 in the U.S.: Ward-Taylor.

Group Stage 3

• Summer 2010 in the U.S.: Ward-Dirrell.

• Summer 2010 in Europe: Froch-Abraham.

• Fall 2010 in the U.S.: Kessler-Taylor.

The top four fighters will advance to the single-elimination semifinals on the merits of a points system. Two points are awarded for a victory, with a one-point bonus for a knockout victory. One point is awarded for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. The semifinals are tentatively scheduled for January 2011 in the U.S., with the final to be held in May or June 2011 in the U.S.

I say direll wins too. Ill go with upset that Taylor wins. Taylor comes in shape and looks the best since the bhop fight. That's what hurt him with the froch fight and the first pavlik fight so let's see if he's dedicated this sat.

Taylor man I just don't know why he gets so tired its rally off but I thought direll and froch was a good fight with dirrell winning by 2 rounds and I thought he got screwed

Yeah taylor's fight was a pretty good knock out I saw that one coming I figured if it was a KO it would be late as usual

and I also thought Dirrell won, Froch definitely lost the championship rounds thats for sure

as for taylor it could be numerous reasons or a combination of reasons. who knows though

maybe it's a lack of mental fortitude or maybe a lack of conditioning or a combination of both

boxing is definitely a mental sport though and some guys dont have the mental make up to go 12 rounds

maybe taylor doesnt have it who knows?

Yeah I agree. Taylor in hospital with severe concussion he could retire sbd be out of the tourney. Allen green may fill his spot. Taylor should have never Changed trainers after the Hopkins fights every since that he's never been the same.
