Do they just count up the attendance or something?

Wouldn't it be better if they took 10-15 snapshots over the course of the year and averaged them out?

This seems a bit inexact to pick one day.

No wonder Highland Park always stays 4A.  Just tell a certain number of kids not to show up today.

The number is enrollment, not how many attended on that one day. Whatever the enrollment is up to today is the number that will represent the school.

So, half the school's enrollment could miss today but it will not change how many students are enrolled in the school.
