LC-M uses helicopter to dry football field

Recommended Posts

Thats funny.  You usually hear about teams turning on the sprinklers to slow down the opponent.

People calling to see if their tax dollars are being used is interesting.  Guess they do not understand that having a varsity FB game and a marching contest would cost them more to repair than to dry it.

it is great to see schools back up their athletic programs and do whatever it takes for the athletes to compete.  Great job LC-M

That's not the only reason. The UIL Region X Marching Competition is to be held there tomorrow, and it's a major fundraiser for the LC-M band.

With the amount of consessions that will be sold and the tickets for admittance into the marching contest they will make more money than you can probably imagine....at least more than you would think.  I was a part of that Marching Contest 10 yrs ago and they pack that place with plenty of people.  They'll get their money back for what it cost to run that Copter and then some.

LCM doesn't charge admission. The fees required to compete go to the UIL. Zero District funds are used to host the event. The only money made for anything associated with LCM is profit made by their band boosters through concessions after expenses. Estimated 20,000 plus attend the event.

I bet you can count on at least $5 a person (probably way more since many of them will be there all day)
