Newton Leads Series 39-23-1 (by the Beamont enterprise). The series was alot closer than I thought.
Yeah I think in the 60's 70's and 80's is where Kirbyville and Newton were back and forth with the winning. We had a bunch of talent in the 90's, but had a horrible coaching staff. Thank goodness for Coach Alvarez to turn our program around. We have been successful for a while now, its time for a state title.
Newton Eagles are 16 & 1 in the last 17 meetings. That makes 1 in a row for the Cats.
You are correct!  and winning the last 16 in a row did not help you last year and will not help you this year.
No but 16 in a row still rocks 1 in a row, and 1 win last year ain't a guaranty the Cats win this year. Don't forget you predicted wins over WO-S and Jasper, That was Rude of Me wasn't it? After the blasting Singletary Stadium and Newton recieved last year, Is Wildcat Stadium and Kirbyville Ready for Us?  I know, don't tell Me, Rude Again.  See Ya Friday.

Newton will broadcast from a man lift and stats will be taken from the bleachers and handed up to the broadcasters during the game, I think its about time for a press box upgrade at Kirbyville that's no way to treat your guest broadcast team . LOL

Uhm...I'm from newton and I wouldnt throw any visitor press box stones too hard.

yeah we upgraded big time...but prior to that...it was a deathtrap.  Manlift was without a doubt safer.
Yea I guess, I was apart of the demo team that worked on the stadium, the home side press box was in good shape the vistiors side was not in that great of shape but the broadcast team still had plenty of room for another team and it was not a deathtrap it just had no a/c or heater and it was a little on the old side they didn't have to tear it down they just replaced the inside walls and put tin on the outside then put a little plexeglass for the windows. the way it was last year would be alot better then being in a man lift, U can't get much worse than that. I don't know if you ever been in a manlift for 2hours but being in one for 30mins sucks, especially when its cold and you are trying to broadcast a football game .

I Would Love to see both teams win state championships, But I beleive Newton will take the first, the district championship.  I beleive they will win this one late in the 4th 34-24.

Arp won't put up 30 points on kirbyville

Yea I agree there is no way Arp puts up 30 on Kville's D-fence, I don't think Arp will even beat Kville. If they meet up

Why would you say that lefty all we disagreed on was the broadcast, I have a tremendous respect for Coach Alvarez he was my first coach in Newton and any team he coaches even Kirbyville I will hope the best for. All Kville is to me is a crosstown rivalry , once the regular season is over I allways hope that Kville will make it far in the playoffs if Newton loses out before Kville you can bet I will be listening to see if they win . Same goes for our other rival Jasper. I would Love to see JASPER NEWTON AND KIRBYVILLE to win state championships in the same year , it probably will never happen but wouldn't that be nice.

If things play out and all this game means is who is district champs, it has no effect on playoffs, I would think both teams would be wise to play their first string maybe a half and then substitute heavily and try to keep as many players healthy as possible for the coming games that really mean something.
I understand what u mean, but why would u not want to win a district championship? Newton has not played very well this year especially in the first half of ball games, they need to play a good caliber team like Kville and they need to play them hard for 4 qrts and know Kville will do that, they want another district championship along with a state championship. Newton needs to improve a little before playoffs and they really need to play Kville like its a playoff game to get a little warmed up before the real competition comes like Dangerfield if they make it that far, If Newton continues to play like they have the last 5 gms they will not last long in the playoffs. So prepare to see a battle in week 10 Barbay is not going to back down in a quest to reclaim the district championship.
Your youth shows. There is nothing gained by winning a district championship or having a "tuneup" game. They will have played 9 games time this game gets here. If that is not enough to "tuneup", your in serious trouble. I agree Newton has not played well at times, but I think it is more scheme than talent. What would a district championship mean if you lose say your starting QB, or starting nose? What kind of let down would you face the next week in the games that count if you build it up and lose? Since the advent of multiple team playoffs the shine on the district crown has been removed. It doesn't matter if you win district or come in second or third, as long as you have a chance to advance in the playoffs to the state championship, which is the real prize. IMO it would be foolish to risk your chances for that prize on a meaningless game just to be able to thump your chest locally and hollar we're the best when in fact your not if you don't take home the big prize. Kirbyville found this out last year as they were district champions, but lost when the real prize was on the line.
as long as we beat newton its all good yea we want to go  to state again but boy will that make us happy when we get that district title again and newton goes home wit their heads hung low

Why would we have our "heads hung low". This game changes nothing. Kirbyville seems to need this win to validate their season. Newton doesn't. Kirbyville fans remind me of Aggies. Aggies want University of Texas to be their big rival, but ask any UT alum who they hate most and it ain't the Aggies, it's Oklahoma. I would rather beat Marlin any day than Kirbyville. I think this has to do with playoff experience. This is going to get me smited, but Kirbyville is still new to the playoffs. Give them another 10 years of going to the playoffs and they might understand.

That comment had nothing to do with the broadcast and no we didn't have a disagreement about the broadcast.  That was you and another.  Like I said before it's Newton's week in the radio.  End of story.  You are reading too much into it...remember all this is in good fun. ;)  I hope that Newton goes all the way also.  It'll just prove to all the naysayers that this area is king when it comes to football.

Times change my friend. When everything about the playoffs rested on being District Champions, it was all about being District Champion. These days it's not. If you don't understand this logic, I'm sorry. Just because you want it to be the old way, don't make it so.

    • For the Nederland fans, I will give you the Texas High report. The game will be decided on the field and not on message boards. In my opinion, this is the best Tiger team since they won state in 2002. As mentioned earlier they have a well balanced offense that has is 50/50 between pass and run. David Potter, QB, makes good decisions and has only thrown 1 INT. He holds an offer from SMU. The running attack is three headed. Javari Johnson (SR), starts at RB and has committed to SFA over 8 D1 offers. Tradarian Ball (JR) is the crown jewel of the offense. 247Sports ranks him as the #2 RB in next year’s class and #46 overall. He has committed to Oregon. When he is not spelling Johnson, he is a receiver. The #3 RB is Ahmad Moore (JR). His yards have come primarily with 2nd team, but I don’t see a huge drop off when he is on the field. The receivers to the passing attack is not focused on one individual. The line has provided good pass protection and opening holes for the run.    The defense has given up some points, but are solid. I would say their strength is their secondary. Overall they have very good team speed. As a retired visiting coach related after they watched Texas High … “ They have athletes all over the field”. Grim can be a difficult venue for opponents, especially after a 5 hour bus ride. Looking forward to Friday and safe travels to the Nederland fans.
    • It's amazing how it's actually the libs that likes to play the race game!
    • What's going to be interesting is that Lovejoy, coached by Todd Dodge, is on a possible collision course with either Nederland or PNG.  Knowing that Dodge helped both schools in their coaching search, this could get really interesting!  Personally -- I'd like to see it happen!
