Looking at the Scout.com site here's a few players Lamar is recruiting:

DE Taylor Hicks, OLB Tony Andres, CB Keavon Madison, QB Justin Rosborough, and WR Tree Bracy, all from Hightower HS (Sugarland).  They are being recruited by the likes of North Texas, UTSA, and UTEP.  Scout gives these guys 1 star.

RB Ky'Ordick Black from Tyler, WR Holt Hoetger from Plano Sr HS, WR George Moore from Aldine HS, all 1 star prospects by scout.

I'll be surprised if we pull any of those guys with a Texas State or SFA beside their name...
Never know just because they are talking does not mean they are offering.....

I believe Previn James played with some guys on this year's team... should look out for him.

I'm sorry, if Texas State offers me.. I'm going there. Great facilites, play atleast 1 BIG D1 each year, they win.. They aren't a start up program? Nothing against LU, but the coaches are going to have to do some great persuading to pull some of these guys away that get offers to serious contenders each year. Local guys would probably stay here over Texas State or SFA, but we won't win if we get ONLY the left over local guys..

Texas State has good facilities, not great.  Their stadium is still smaller than Lamar's with a track around the field. For a school with 30K students, they only average 12K in a good year.  They are not like McNeese where they always have a good team, they usually have mediocre teams.  And because Texas State is sandwiched between Austin and San Antonio they don't get much press.  UT football gets all the attention while Texas State hardly gets noticed.

Central Texas is a nice area and if you go to Texas State you get to party to Austin!!

Do we need another reason? lol. Their stadium is LEGIT though, even if it may not be very big.

The new addition to their stadium is nice.  They are planning a lot of upgrades so eventually it will be a very nice stadium.

Yea Lamar will not play a big Div 1 team maybe their first couple of seasons, but coach Woodard has already talked about scheduled Texas A&M for the 2012 season and Oklahoma State and TCU for the 2013 season.

Nov. 16--New Lamar University football coach Ray Woodard is not only a big man at 6-6, 290, he also thinks big. Woodard, in the process of putting future schedules together, called Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Michigan and Oklahoma State, among others. His first taker was Texas A&M. Although the contracts
have not been signed, Lamar is tentatively schedule to play the Aggies at Kyle Field Sept. 8, 2012. Tentative dates have also been made with Oklahoma State and TCU in 2013. Asked about a possible game with Texas, Woodard said he was told the Longhorns weren't interested in playing a 1-AA team.

Sgt Rey, Just one question... have you looked at the current roster??? About half that roster is local guys....
Just one answer---if they're on the roster, they're not recruits...I was referring to the class of 2010...

I'm sure they are recruiting the Golden Triangle just like they did last year.

Whoever doesn't get picked up by the UT's,A&M's, TCU's, OU's, Baylor's of the world.

That's fine as long the LU doesn't end up with the leftovers from the McNeeses', SFA's and SHSU's of the world.  ;D
