BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 I'm not familiar with the Catholic district and attended a recruiting function over the weekend at St.Thomas High. I knew St. Thomas supposely had a couple of players who were good. But they have a major schedule playing the big boys. Those guys are serious about their basketball over there. I was wondering how does Kelly match up with St. Thomas in regards to basketball this year?
magic Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Nick Schrapps is the only returning varsity player from last year. There are no new "recruits" this year. St. Thomas has always been a basketball school. They have more than three times the number of boys in the school compared to kelly, and they have the metroplex to recruit from. Kelly is clearly in a rebuilding year.

Well good luck to you guys.
Coach Schrapps Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Kelly can match up on the perimeter...but St. Thomas has four players who are 6'6" or taller and Kelly will have a hard time matching up with them inside. That said for the most part the two schools always play each other tough and have some very heated battles. Kelly is trying to build up its young talent and keep the program going in a good direction.

Coach Schrapps Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Were you asking about St.Thomas' guard play? If so it is solid. They have a sophomore who came over from Second Baptist who was all state last season. They also have a big kid who plays outside as well as in. They had some good kids on the JV last year that were pretty good shooters. Overall they have a great team.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 They had several of their players hanging around the camp shooting and talking with the middle schoolers. I saw a guard who appeared to have a very good game and two big kids. I do know their pre-district schedule is tough. They must have some ballers over there.
Coach Schrapps Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Was the guard white? If so that would be Christian Sanders. He is a very talented ball player and a good point guard. They also have another point guard who is talented as well named Anthony Culberson. Their bigs are Jeremy King, Aaron Durley, Chase Kammerer (sp?), and they have one more. They lost Trey Guidry to St. Pius, but it might be for the best because it will open up playing time for some of their bigs. Talk about an embarassment of riches, that would be St. Thomas. Kelly will have their work cut out for them, but that is a long way off yet.
