cowboys Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Ideally, it looks good on paper. The big schools play the big schools, etc. Logistically, it will be a nightmare across the state. Travel times for many 2A schools are already pretty lengthy. Sub-varsity teams will be affected the most. The question that will be posed is: Are the games going to start at the same times and students get out of class earlier, or are games going to be scheduled later in the evening and get home even later. We'll see when next year's football season rolls around how it going to work out. Looks like we'll have plenty of mad mothers to come on this site and bash the coaches for what they do.
ChampionEagles Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 They need to remember it was the ADs and Superintendants who voted this in. Most of the time in 2A the AD is the Head Football coach. Maybe they need a little bashing.

KFDM COOP Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 K, i know it did in 1A but haven't heard anything for 2A. You have an article on it?
ChampionEagles Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Look on the bottom of the UIL looks to register Officials down the page. It is covered there.
ChampionEagles Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009
Superintendents voted on this.
But not without a lot of input from the ADs I bet.
snafu Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 As soon as the first years Fuel ticket hits... this will come back up for discussion.... someone on the school board will deam the $$$ can be better spent else where... and you know he/she will be correct.... I think it should be an option to stay in the district your in or move over to a smaller school district... might not work... but atleast the smaller communities won't have to pay the higher fuel bill on travel....
rapayne Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Do we know if/ when 3A and 4A will vote on this?? Thought 3A was already suppose to have done so???

With the way the economy is and how school districts have to really pinch pennies these days, they don't need extra costs on travel expenses. Some school districts are having it tough already with the schedules they have.
eaba26 Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 People will not care about the cost. They just want a chance to win. School with 210 cant compete with school of 430. Same in 3a with schools of 440 competing with schools of 900. It will pass.

To build a program go get a good quality coach and give him time and support to build from within. Upgrade facilities to have something to build with. Community support through thick and thin plays a big part in winning programs. Wanting a chance to win and doing something about a chance to win are two different things.
alice Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 It appears those snapshot numbers will play a bigger role than usual. Wonder if Districts will be split in half or everything will be based on a new set of numbers to make the determination.
rmac Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 This link has possible drafts of districts under split-conference alignments.http://www.uil.utexas.edu/athletics/football/football_align_study.html
ChampionEagles Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Whew! After trying to decipher that proposal makes me think it was done by divorce lawyers.

Mr.Green Jeans Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 How will the other sports be affected?
rmac Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 I have not seen anything about other sports. In the split conference set up there will only be two teams from each district make the playoffs.
Mr.Green Jeans Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 If that is so than Newton, and Kirbyville will be automatic.
Anafanatic Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009
doubt it.
Barbay vs. Barbay - things could get interesting next season if this happens. Whoever wins this district would be battle-tested for sure.
