The hard work, of which you speak, needs to be in the sport where excellence is pursued, as opposed to a "good for everybody" regimen

I learned a long time ago that respect is not something you are given. Respect is something you earn. If we want respect, we need to earn it on the court. We do that by being competitive and beating some teams we are not supposed to. Once that begins to happen, the respect will follow automatically.

And the sooner that basketball players are allowed to practice their chosen sport more instead of doing "football like" preparations, the sooner the likelihood of achieving the above comes to pass.

i take it from your post(s) that HF must be have some sort of offseason routine that concentrates on more or less generic weight training/conditioning? i didn't catch the sarcasm earlier, but you've referenced it several more times more or less sarcastically...

[/quote] Kind of like football is a year round season in HF. You have 7 & 8 grade basketball players during their season weight lifting for football. These two sports deserve their own separate conditioning program.

As someone who remembers how competitive at just about everything and downright good at many back in the 70's, it is weird not seeing them in the mix in 3A down there. As for the Unioversal Offseason, if thats the case then dont hold your breath. It will eventually spill over even ionto girls athletics. I'm in Freer and the ad/head FB coach here even has the girls doing the weights ... in season and on game day .... has injured several girls ... and regional qualifier and potential state qualifier ion cross country was so bulked up barely made it out of district ... get rid of universal off season and hire a basketball coach

Sports has the tendency to mirror life and like life, you experience ups and downs. HF will experience the ups in a few years when all the pieces are in place again.
