It was a battle in terrible conditions. Both teams stuggled but both teams had amazing individual efforts. Dionte was very impressive. #7 for Ned made some amazing catches. The 90ish yard run by the Vidor Back had to be one of the Top Ten runs of the season in the district. The game was not decided by the officials. I know how good the Nederland fans must feel after this win. It hurts for us Pirate fans. We still control our destiny...I hope we take care of business next week.
#7 Ryan Brady who made that TD catch in the endzone which was amazing but the best catch was across the middle on a 3rd and 12.

My complaining changes nothing. You got the win and you should be proud of your boys. They played a great game. I also think our boys played their hearts out, but it was not meant to be.
Guest Penny Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Well said, great high school football game.
NDN79 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 A lot of people on this board said this game would be the game-of-the-week, and it truly was. Congrats. to both on a hard fought game. Great job Dogs--do it 1 more time next week!

PhatMack19 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 In Dionte's 2 starts, he has thrown for 491 yards and 6 TD's with 0 fumbles. He has provided the shot in the arm that the Dogs needed.
dmanspadge Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Hahahaha... Nederland has the worst team they've had in years and Vidor still can't beat them. The "big rivalry".... hahahaha. The Vidor fans will slowly go the way of the Lumberton fans. See ya'll in about 10 more years when you think you have a good team again.
Guest Brubaker Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Totally uncalled for, Vidor played a tough game tonight. We don't know how good Nederland is or can be right now, it's like their season just started last week.

football504 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Its always something that causes Vidor to lose its never them...Every year they will be great and its the same thing at the end...Must be the HARD preseason :)
GoDogs27 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 i give props to the vidor fans with class. i do get tired of hearing the excuses from the classless vidor folks though. i know the stats were close but nederland dominated this game. hard fought on both sides but the dogs couldve won by 10 or more. vidors primary problem this year is that they are so one dimensional and thats easy to prepare for . if vidor wants playoffs then they are going to have to throw the ball
bulldogdad55 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 The way i see it .. Nederland don't have one of the worst teams they've had in years ..We have had alot of bad luck this year with injuries. Tonight Vidor came to town and gave us a hard fought game and played their hearts out and so did Nederland, we just came out ontop tonight. I know that Vidor always wants to give us a great game and play at their highest level. I don't think they need to be trashed on here just because they played a hard fought game and lost. I think Coach Mathews is doing a fine job over there and i wish them success next week and make it to the playoffs. Good Luck Pirates and keep your heads up.

Its been the refs fault everytime. Theres no way the refs can be the reason EVERYTIME. Sometimes you just have to accept defeat.
Again congrats on the win, I hate seeing all of these negative post take so much away from the battle we all got to witness tonight. Please Ned fans feel free to continue the bashing. It is so much classier than a couple of Vidor fans complaining. I mean I just love reading post, after post, after post about how terrible our team is and how we were so overrated. Please keep'em coming.

GrayDog Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Congratulations to all these young men who played their hearts out! I'm feeling the pain from just watching! Vidor will get in the playoffs and do well. There were times on offense when I didn't know who had the ball, even after watching my video....As for my DOGS: We knew what you could do, and you proved it tonight! Enjoy, and get ready for next week. Continue taking care of the ball, and, WOW the defensive effort!Let's go get Lumberton!

GrayDog Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Oh, and congratulations to the Nederland COACHES! You've stood through a lot of adversity this year, and, proved what an excellent program you have achieved!
jake94 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 I think he runs the option pretty well. The problem is when he goes to pass. The Vidor offense looks like it has ONE pass play in its playbook. They throw a streak route out of the backfield to #21. I was shocked that Vidor was throwing on 1st down when the fumble happened. They had just gotten a gift of a penalty when it was 3rd and forever. They still had 2 minutes and were at midfield. If Vidor would mix it up a bit more and maybe throw 25-30% of the time, then I think that offense would be pretty darn tough! I just don't think you can win district these days or make any kind of playoff run if you are completely one-dimensional. This is not a knock on Vidor, it's just too easy for good DC's to gameplan for.
PhatMack19 Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 I agree Jake, Nederland had 10 men in the box the whole night. In the playoffs, teams are bigger and faster and will shut down that offense.
RustedCutlass Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Well, I decided to apply badndn's 12-hour rule for posting after last night. ;DI haven't read through every post, so I don't know who has been classless in posting or not. Nor do I really care. The reason we lost is simple: We came out soft. The defense played soft the entire first drive, kind of like someone said "Let's defer until the second half and give them the ball so we can see what they'll do on offense." NO! That is what we supposedly watch film for!We battled back, yes, but we never should of had to. We should have came out early and punched them in the mouth. We didn't. The defense never looked good until the third quarter. Was there some questionable calls? Yes. Even the glorious scoreboard the announcer kept mentioning all night clearly showed that Dozhier's hand was going forward and that was not a fumble. You would have to have zero knowledge about the game to think that was a fumble. But still, Nederland got the ball. But I can't blame the loss on that. Bad calls happen in games. I'm sure that Nederland would like to complain about the bad call of uneccesary roughness in the fourth. That kid couldn't stop and was already too close when the whistle was blown. But bad calls are, unfortunately, part of the game. You have to be able to overcome them.Plain and simple, if we hadn't played so darn soft at the beginning of the game and had not let them score with ease on that first drive, we win the game. But, just like the PN-G game, we waited too long to pull the trigger.I hope that this is classy enough. I don't see anything in here that could be considered classless, especially after the rigamarole that happened after the PN-G game. Boys, you have to wake up. You play like this against Livingston next week, who just happened to beat Central by the way, and we'll be sitting at home again after district. You better get fired up early. Pull the trigger!!
