Lady Bears trip up BC in net warmup

BRIDGE CITY — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears took down the Bridge City Lady Cardinals 25-13, 25-12, 25-16 in a warmup match at Cardinal Gym as both teams are prearing for the playoffs.

Christine Sicktich had 10 assists, eight digs, four aces and three kills for the Lady Bears (31-7). Shelby Apperson and Ashton LaVergne each had five kills.

Kalyn Harkness had five digs and three aces while Shelby Sanchez posted five digs and two aces. Megan Kemp notched three kills and Allison Walker had three aces.

Shelbi Tucker claimed two assists, a dig and an ace. Elissa Tate had two aces and a block. Michelle Rigsby had two aces and Callie Terry had a dig.

The Lady Bears, District 20-4A champions, will take on 19-4A’s fourth-place unit in Goose Creek Memorial in the Class 4A Region III bidistrict playoffs Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lamar University’s McDonald Gym.

The LC-M-Goose Creek Memorial winner will face the Magnolia-San Marcos winner in the area round laterthis week.

The Lady Cardinals, the second-place squad out of District 21-3A, will take on 22-3A third-place unit Huffman at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barbers Hill High School in the Class 3A Region III bidistrict round.

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats, third in 21-3A< will tangle with 22-3A runnerup Splendora at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kountze High School.

The bears are really good! BC needed to take on a team of that caliber before facing 3A playoff teams.

Later in the day, BC took out an undefeated 2A Woodville 3-0....Woodville will do well in 2A bracketing; BC could never really overwhelm them and it was also a good warm-up for both.
