baseballnut Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 I thought teams swapped who got the ball 1st in second O.T. Central had the ball 1st on both O.T.'s. Anyone know the rule? just wondering.
selena0376 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 I was at the double OT game beween Vidor and Central and they swaped at the end of the 1st OT
selena0376 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Man I know I'm feeling bad when I can't spell......LOL
baseballnut Posted November 8, 2009 Author Report Posted November 8, 2009 I think the ref's screw up.
warpaint101 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 A coin toss determines which side shall attempt to score first, and at which end zone the scores shall be attempted. Each team in turn will receive one possession, starting with first-and-10 from a fixed point on the opponent's side of the field: In college football, the possession begins at the opponent's 25-yard line. In high school football, the ball begins at the 10-yard line, with the option for state high school associations to use different yardage (such as the 15, 20, or 25-yard line) If the score remains tied at the end of the overtime procedure, an additional overtime procedure is played. The team with the second possession in one overtime procedure will have the option of going 1st in the next overtime procedure.
baseballnut Posted November 8, 2009 Author Report Posted November 8, 2009 Thanks, don't see why Central's coach would want it 1st , if he was asked.

baseballnut Posted November 8, 2009 Author Report Posted November 8, 2009 OH well ,guess we will never know but the rule reads Central had the option on 2nd O.T.
TheRef Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 The rule is the team winning the coin toss gets the first option of offence or defence. The losing team chooses which end of the field. Or the winning team can choose the end of the field and let the losing team have the option of offence or defence. On the second OT the team that lost the coin flip gets their option of offence, defence, or which end of the field. Not sure who won the toss or what their option was because I was in Lumberton! But this is the way the OT is decided. High School starts at the 25 yd line and each team gets a shot at scoring until one team comes out on top. On the third OT the teams must try for the 2 point conversion after the score. I know this does not clear things up for what happened in Port Neches, but this is the rules!
warpaint101 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 If the score remains tied at the end of the overtime procedure, an additional overtime procedure is played. The team with the second possession(PNG) in one overtime procedure will have the option of going 1st in the next overtime procedure. That is as simple as i can spell it out.....
33 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 i have a question about that blocked FG against these two teams.PNG blocked the FG and ran it back to the other end zone... i thought that would only count for 1 point?last season BC blocked a FG extra point and was ran all the way back and was only counted for 1 point so why not in this game?it was the same situation just different teams...

Klein Bearkats Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Coach Washington was asked by the officials, and he requested to go on offense first for the second OT. He maybe wanted to rest his defense.

PN-G got the 2 points since the play was for an extra point play after a touchdown.
