badndn Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Funny stuff there! ;DThey have Denton Guyer ranked one spot ahead of the Denton Ryan team that pasted them last week 50-29. Both have identical 9-1 records.
rollinac Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Just like any other rankings you look at they're pretty much worthless. 10-0 is 10-0....don't care the district or the season. PNG should NOT be ranked 15th....whether they're that good or not we'll see but 15th is ridiculous.
jbabi86 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Massey is one of the most dependable polls there is. Their rankings take into account a number things including strength of schedule, offense output, defense etc. It is done by computers. Not just games won/lost. They are pretty accurate. Here is what is on the website.About Massey RatingsKen Massey’s renowned ratings algorithm was added to the BCS Formula in 1999 to choose opponents for the NCAA Div 1 National Championship game. This same algorithm calculates HighSchoolSports.net’s Massey Ratings every week for select high school varsity teams across the country.
LP0175 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I agree with this poll. Strength of schedule is VERY important in high school ball. i know 5A district 22 is NOT an eye-opener! Pearland, Deer park, and LA PORTE are 3 spots every year, and then the 5 pasadena isd school duke it out for the last spot. I'M A REALIST. We have it easy.
Guest Newbie Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 This looks more scientific than the Borement Enterprise's rankings. There is a method to the madness.
ChampionEagles Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Yea, and look how well it works in the BCS.
pngfan66 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I does not take into account a teams determination, character, spirit, honor and pride ! I think the rankings are ridiculous myself. How many times have we seen a BCS match up that flat out sucked because of ratings ? We as people and fans know our teams strengths and weaknesses better than a computer. We know which teams would play each other closer than a computer. Just a vent. The BCS crap gets my goat ! and I see it as having no impact on HS football anywhere !
ChampionEagles Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I actually was being facetious. The BCS has created lots of "not really" champions because of it's ridiculous algorithm. I don't think there is a poll anywhere that can claim 100% accuracy and guarantee anything. Any way you cut it there are never any absolutes. That is why they play the games.
ncplaya Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Man, we have to get a hold of those schools that are below us and schedule a game lol
rollinac Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009
Yea, and look how well it works in the BCS.
Aint that the truth....
LP0175 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Well Ladies and Gentlemen, this is why we are one of the states that dont have a ranking system to determine our play-offs. And lets not make this college football talk...
