Hawaii's Kurtz suspended six games

[UNLV]

HONOLULU -- Hawaii center Douglas Kurtz must sit out the Rainbow Warriors' first six games because he played three games in a professional league in his native Brazil in 2007.

Coach Bob Nash said on Wednesday that he decided against appealing the NCAA ruling so that Kurtz and the rest of the team won't have to deal with the uncertainty of his status.

The 7-footer transferred to Hawaii from Marshalltown Community College in Iowa.

Hawaii opens its season Friday at its own Rainbow Classic against Southern Utah. Kurtz will be eligible to play for the Warriors against Lamar on Dec. 6.

The return will cause some confusion giving Lamar an advantage. I say LU wins this game.

He does add depth to their team and Hawaii appears to be pretty big upfront without him.  I'm ready for the season to start now, I'm anxious to see what kind of talent Roc brought in this season.

This post should have flushed the "greatest of all prognasticators" TT to make one of his acid remarks about LU.  I am really surprised he has not responded yet.
