There's no doubt we are fast, but Kirbyville is just as fast if not faster, especially with their overall team speed.  Believe me, I'd like to see my Panthers end Kville's season with an upset, and it would be awesome to see a 28-21 score, no matter which team is victorious!

Should be a wet and slippery night, so who knows what will happen on the field - at least it won't be muddy out there!

Good luck to the Wildcats and safe travel for fans on both sides!

Good post but with it being a wet track we all know anything can happen.  With that being said if it is a ground and pound night Kirbyville should still come out on top.  Anahuac has to be able to stop the run and thus far they haven't been able to.

Anahuac is one of the fastest teams in this area. Panthers have way to much speed for K-VILLE. Ford will have a blow out. Panthers upset K-VILLE 28-21.

IMO Anahuac has not played a team yet on the same level as Kirbyville..And as for speed you will see more speed than you want to see on both sides of the ball....Not only Ford, but Ervine,Rhodes,Cucancic...Can all carry the mail..Best of luck to both teams...And I hope a Injury free ball game....

Yes, we haven't played a team as talented as Kville, but watching the Panthers all season it's been very obvious and disturbing to me that we haven't played up to our potential and just haven't seemed hungry if you catch my drift - this may be our last chance!  Our defense has played "bend but don't break" all season and haven't given up many points, this should be a much harder task though.  I cannot say that y'all have better RB's 'cause I know we are just as talented at that position...the difference between our squads thus far is in the trenches.  Our O and D line just aren't nearly as polished and if you can't create gaps, you can't go anywhere.  By no means am I saying your D wouldn't have something to do with that, I'm just saying I've seen it all season without playing you guys and it wouldn't be anything new for our offense to stall.  Nothing would make me happier than for everything to come together tonight, I just don't want to see 3 or 4 onside kicks again!!!  :-\

Individually, we have just as much speed - what we lack is team speed, which is what the schools listed above have mixed with solid execution.  There is a difference!  If we break one tonight, I don't see us getting caught from behind, but being able to break one is the issue.

Ex:  Put D. Childress, T. Thomas or J. Albritton behind Kvilles line and you would see stats like Ford's.  I'm not even sure if Albritton is playing tonight, ankle still tweaked and he's just a soph., so coaches might be saving him for the next 2 years - who knows!

EXACTLY..that was totally uncalled for!!!
[/quote]

How is a legal block "totally uncalled for?"  The only time it gets illegal is when you cut somebody on special teams or when a defensive lineman is "high/lowed."  If he is in the box, his knees are fair game.  Believe it or not, Kirbyville has been guilty of illegal cut blocks.  In 2001, an Anahuac player had his season ended prematurely when he was cut on a kick-off.  It happens.  The play being referenced from last year was a play from scrimmage, not a kick-off.

I am not sure that I would put them in that category.  Ford is on another level then they are at this point.  Yes, they would have good numbers but I don't think you understand how many yards and TD's he has after contact and I don't mean an attempted arm tackle.

    • Like I said, even if it’s only 10% of the 100 kids BHISD takes from GCCISD each year, that’s 10 athletes per year and that’s being generous.  You’re right about the jobs with BHISD, BTW.  There’s more than 1 athlete from Baytown originally who got transferred to BHISD after a job opened up for Mama.

    • It’s behind a paywall but here’s Baytown Sun’s story on it.  It was reported on in other papers statewide so if you search by the date I think you’ll find other stories on it. UIL strengthens student transfer rules By Ron McDowell [email protected] Oct 18, 2024   In order to maintain a level playing field for all member schools, the University Interscholastic League strengthened rules regarding transfer student eligibility at its most recent meeting in Austin. Every year thousands of students transfer schools in the state of Texas. A student’s ability to participate in UIL sanctioned activities may be limited base on the reasons for the transfer. A change in family status, work transfers, enrollment in an academic magnet program, or a move across town, receive scrutiny, but only rarely does one of these reasons result in the loss of eligibility. The only reason to automatically cause the loss of participation eligibility is a transfer for athletic purposes. The current rule, which has been in place since 1981, does not require a Previous Athletic Participation Form (PAPFs) to be submitted if the student-athlete does not participate in a varsity level sport during the first year of enrollment. There has been growing concern among some member schools, that other members are breaking the current rule and creating “super teams” with new transfer enrollees, and that the UIL is not doing enough to police, what appear to be, the inordinate number of transfers among high school athletes. To mitigate these concerns, the UIL approved a proposal to expand the power of the State Executive Committee (SEC) and allow it to investigate schools based upon the number of PAPFs submitted. Schools that submit an inordinate number of PAPFs would face heightened scrutiny and possible public reprimand and future sanctions. The UIL has also changed the requirements for PAPF submission, mandating that the form be submitted before a grade 9-12 transfer student may participate at any level of school athletics. This is a marked departure from the current policy which encourages schools not to complete PAPFs for students who transfer in, if the school believes that the student will not play a varsity sport in the first year the student is enrolled at the new school. Some critics of the current system think that the change doesn’t go far enough. Speaking on background, one local school district source suggested that there should be an automatic year wait for transfer students due to the number of loopholes in the waiver process. “If a student transfers, it should be a year out of competition automatically,” the source said. In addition, the UIL also approved a proposal that gives the SEC the power to appoint an independent administrator to oversee the conduct of the local District Executive Committee (DEC) if it is determined that the DEC is not consistently enforcing the rules of the governing body. The change is significant since all appeals that a school brings, starts and usually ends with the DEC. That includes the determination of transfer student eligibility. It is believed that with the implementation of this change, schools in a UIL district will be less likely to face retribution from the DEC chair and other members. • I was hoping WOS was going to win. To get another chance to redeem ourself. Silsbee did not look good in that game and has not played consistent during the season. Hopefully against La Vega they will play 4quarters of football
