No way R.C. is going... if he does I'll eat my crow, but I hear he's in for the A&M AD position after Byrne leaves/retires.

Slocum is out of the equation according to reports. He turned it down because he's getting too lucrative a deal from A&M now.

Hearing some other names, a few that have not been mentioned on KatFans.com re: coaches. One is a former major FBS head coach, not named Fran.

Special assistant to the President. I think he makes appearances, does fundraising, etc.

He can probably make more money and put in a lot less hours as a "special assistant to the president" at Texas A&M than as a head coach anywhere in the SLC.

Terror, This is an old buddy from SHSU... the big guy from CKI. Hope your doing well. What are our chances of landing Willie Fritz that was at Blinn at one time? Wish they'd look at him, he's a good coach and knowns how to win. Back to back national championships at Blinn.94, 95 if I am not mistaken.

After MacIntyre pulled out and ended up in California, the top three candidates were Dickey, Fritz and Phillips.

Fritz emerged victorious, presumably based on the quotes by the AD - due to his defensive and special teams background. SHSU has never had to really worry about offense...

Isn't Lamar-Beaumont playing football against Sam next year and the foreseeable future? Or am I getting Lamar-Beaumont mixed up with Lamar-Port Arthur? AggiesAreWe, is Lamar in the SLC? Or the Big 12?

I did not even post the news re: SHSU's new coach on any other board, yet it is part of talk on EVERY football board in this league. From San Marcos to Hammond. From Natchitoches to Lake Charles.

If you guys are going to compete in this league, you should learn about the teams you are to compete against. It's called being an educated fan and quite frankly, why I read your board. Unfortunately, as I am learning, most of the fans here do not seem to care about the other schools in the league, let alone the 'focus' of this board...the Lamar Cardinals.

If it weren't for me posting other SLC news, you guys would be in the dark. Then again, most of you already are about Lamar based on threads regarding the football stadium, so it'd just be a little consistency in your lives.

So glad you guys didn't land Kim Helton...He sucks. Went through some rough times with him at UH even though we won 1 conf champ and played in the Liberty Bowl vs. Syracuse (Donovan McNabb).

Phillips is a good guy. Great offensive mind. But who knows if he was ready to run a program.[/font]
