WOSHIGHc/o2001 Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Texas safety Earl Thomas told me tonite he's not leaving for the NFL early as a third-year soph. Seemed pretty committed to that choice.Kirk Bohls Austin American Statesman Twitter PageLINKY
skipper Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 kevin smith told him to stick around another year
ChampionEagles Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Did Earl Thomas wear number 12 in high school? I find it interesting that he and McCoy both wear the number and one is in contention for the Heisman and the other for the Thorpe.

downgoesfrazier Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 That's probably a smart move for Earl, even though he could and should win the Thorpe. Eric Berry will be the first safety taken and Taylor Mays combine numbers will make him the next safety taken even though Thomas is better. One thing hurting Earl's draft stock at safety is his size. He's a little undersized for a NFL safety. But next year he would probably be the undisputed number 1 safety in the draft.
Stangs92 Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I think Earl will play corner in the league.

MMSLB Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Usually guys thinking of coming out early have people talk with NFL people and get an idea of where they will go in the draft. Usually that is done later on after the season. If Kevin did that for Earl, does anyone know where Earl was projected to go in the draft? Earl is a great young man and player and I wish him the very best whether he stays or goes!!
MMSLB Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Never mind, I just saw on KOGT.com where he is a projected 2nd round pick.
