KFDM COOP Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Woolley Classic highlights tourney actionVan WadeThe Orange LeaderLocal basketball teams will be flying to the hoop in different tournaments this week with the First Annual Tom Woolley Lady Cardinal Classic highlighting the docket.The tournament, which honors the former outstanding Lady Cardinal coach in both basketball and softball will host five teams.Teams in the field include the Bridge City varsity (Red) and the Bridge City JV (White) along with Beaumont Kelly, East Chambers and Sabine Pass.Today’s action will pit BC Red vs Sabine Pass at 9:30 a.m.; East Chambers vs. BC White (11:15 a.m.); Kelly vs. Sabine Pass (1 p.m.); East Chambers vs. BC Red (2:45 p.m.); and Kelly vs. BC White (4:30 p.m.).Games Friday include East Chambers vs. Kelly (9:30 a.m.); Sabine Pass vs. BC White (11:15 a.m.); Kelly vs. BC Red (1 p.m.); and East Chambers vs. Sabine Pass (2:45 p.m.). There will be three games Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. with the championship game starting close to 1 p.m.In other girls tournament action the Deweyville Lady Pirates will compete in the High Island Tournament today through Saturday.On Friday Orangefield will visit Nederland and West Orange-Stark will travel to Beaumont West Brook in regular non-district action.On the boys side, three local teams will be heading off to the Evadale Tournament in the form of Bridge City, Orangefield and Deweyville.Today’s games will feature Bridge City vs. Kountze (9:30 a.m.); Newton vs. Warren (12:30 p.m.); Orangefield vs. East Chambers (2 p.m.); Colmesneil vs. Evadale (6:30 p.m.); and Deweyville vs. Hamshire-Fannett (8 p.m.).Semifinals and consolation semifinals will be played Friday while the championship game is slated for 8 p.m. Saturday.The Nederland Bulldog Classic will begin today with Orange County teams WO-S and Vidor in the field.Todays games will pit Beaumont Ozen vs. Milburn Academy (1:30 p.m.); Galveston Ball vs. Port Neches-Groves (3 p.m.); Vidor vs. WO-S (4:30 p.m.); and Nederland vs. Dayton (6 p.m.).Semifinals and consolation semifinals are Friday with the championship game being slated for 8 p.m. Saturday.The Little CYpress-Mauriceville boys will participate in the Cedar Creek Shootout. The Bears will open up against Hallsville at 5:30 p.m. today. Other teams in the field include Rockwall, Bryan Adams, Samuell, T.K. Gorman, Kaufman and Mabank.
