Lazeek
HJ goes into half down 10 and Coach Sutherland and staff does what they do best and made adjustments and the Hawks outscore the Lions 51-38 in the second half!!!!! So glad that HJ has the best coach and coaching staff in SE Texas and maybe in the state!!!!
HoopInsider_Cooper
[font=Courier]I'll bite....took me forever to get home in fog. Here is my objective criticism (for you steve nash)....Instead of making excuses and blaming refs, I spoke with Devin after the game and he didn't mention the refs.Calls were awful on both ends. Touch fouls then kids getting hammered down low. One of 3 officials tonite was poor poor poor.I don't know what major adjustments were made but it was clear devin or roman could play defense in the 3 and 4 quarters in the paint due to foul trouble. Turner took it to the hole several times without hesitation from them to guard him.Sutherland hit big threes tonight, something he did not do in the first game. Jacoby was again the difference for H-J. He hustled for loose balls and never gave up on any play. Kid is a player and deserves the ranking he will get when the player rankings come out soon.BTW.....so glad McCoy didn't win the Heisman! It is REALLY hurting the Girl's side and subvarsity games even more!!!I will say that I thought the refs were consistent. If contact did not lead to an advantage, they let it go...Devin had 3 fouls, that while they seemed to be touch fouls, they impacted the shot, thus were called... SHSTIGER
The only adjustments made was Bray not playing a large portion of the game. Yes fouls were even but the difference was when and who they were called on. Very poor officiating, imo.
PoppaBearstarr
Great defensive adjustment...yes brey sat for a large portion of the third quarter but not the whole game. Great game to watch.
SHSTIGER
Kountze was playing defense with three players most of the 2nd half.
setxslam
Wow, what a game. Great effort from both sides. If opponents really think the "Hawkettes [other than Jacoby Turner] suck," even after losing to HJ, well... that's fine. That's what I've always loved best about HJ basketball: our players really don't look like much walking into gyms or going through warm-ups. They just play selfless, smart, all-out-hustling basketball and find a way to win. Not just this year, either-- the Lions haven't "eaten tasty, tender Hawk meat" (I guess that means won over HJ, though it makes me a little nervous) since Sutherland left Kountze. The Hawks don't look to "dunk on dem fools," they work hard on D and play for open threes and layups.Of course, HJ only won because of the refs. That's what fans of the long and distinguished list of dunk-artist teams HJ's dispatched say, and believe. Dem fools.

These questions will only be followed by more excusses and then the whole thread goes to pot. Bottom line, since HJ won we knew there was going to be circumstances that allowed this to happen (remember the first game). I will admit that there were 2 really exciting things about this game that I remember the most. "Kountze Dunks" (before and during the game) and "HJ's scoring more points to Win". Which one did I enjoy the most?? Let me see--I'm still thinking--O.K. It was the "WIN". But I did like the dunks!!!
Guest stevenash
You are so right. Logic is always met with disdain here and I respectfully withdraw my question.

whsalum
I'll have to agree with HJHawks about the officiating. The girls and JV clubs are getting the short end here. There wasn't an official on the floor in the 2 days I was there that hasn't been working varsity games for awhile. The type game Kountze plays dictates why they get in foul trouble not the officials. The only problem I saw with any of the officials all weekend was the need to explain calls and smooth things over with the players.I know I'm old school but when you blow the whistle, line up, shoot the free throws and go to the other end.Good coaches here on both benches.Heres a news flash-this was a game between 2 very good teams, played hard and won by the home club.Happens everyday in the game of basketball and it's not all that unusual.
