Bluedove is right, though.  The area is VERY down on talent compared to recent years and even more so compared to past years.  Look at the D1 talent in PA from 98-00 and the talent the first four or so years at Ozen.  There were like 10 D1's in just those two groups.  I understand that talent moves in cycles, but we're just in a down period right now.  No shame in that.

Our 4A/5A talent is down but the 3A and below talent has been as good as it has every been over the past few years and it shows because every single year we are having multiple representatives at regionals and someone is always at the state tournament.

[/quote]If you wonder how good their coach is, just look at the two late plays he set up in the finals of the HJ tournament.  One almost resulted in a game-saving layup, but the kid traveled when he lost control on the landing.  The 2nd one almost resulted in [b][u]a full court tip-in of the inbounds pass with just .3 seconds left on the clock!!!!![/u][/b].  Yeah, I believe coach knows what he's doing........

[/quote]That was my point exactly.The 2 plays near the end of the Huntington game were drawn up nearly perfect they just weren't quite executed.This young guy is doing a great job.

To be honest, I would take DeCarlos Frank over Cody Doolin from Austin Westlake.  But in general you are right.  Houston has more good players than Southeast Texas.  Imagine that.  They have way more people over there.

Felix Jones from Sabine Pass is a very talented kid that will play on the next level. He doesnt get the hype like some others because he plays 1A. But I have watched this kid for a couple of years, even on his AAU team he is shows a lot of skills. Keep an eye out for him through distric play.

[/quote] Have you ever seen a player make all turn. and be leading the team in 3 stats that was not starting. Just look at the mins and who is on the floor when the game is on the line. This coach is keeping his team together and starting his 3 Srs but when the game is on the line his  big player is on the floor ;) Just like tonight with another double, double.

I agree, the Jones kid can play. Though he has his ups and downs, he carries that team.

Their is a HUGE difference in being one of the better players on your team and being one of the top 10 players in SETX.I haven't seen much talk about any of the kids from Memorial(a pretty good club)or Forney from Nederland.Some of the players mentioned in this thread couldn't start for Kountze,Silsbee or HJ.There are probably 5 players in 23-aa that would get a mention on a top 25 list.Walker,Brey and Whisenant from Kountze.The PG from Hardin if he rehabs enough to play and the Mayes kid from Anahuac.
