ANAHUAC v EC

Recommended Posts

This team is just not looking sharp. When you have 2 of the top3 scorers  coming off the bench and playing 1/2 the game and the starters   are not producing how long do you stay with that line up? Guard Davis is the third scorer and second scoring guard, center Dunigan is 2 in scoring 1 in reb. 1 in blocks and these two kids are only getting to play less than 1/2 the game. JMO but in highschool it is not the time to play the Sr just because they are Srs. you have to play to win. It has always been MO that you play your best 5 players. Davis is out scoring the next Guard by 41 points and Dunigan is out scoring the other centers by 90 points, with 30 more reb. If this team is going to win these two are going to have to play more min. But if the point is to play the same starters because they are Srs then keep playing just like they are now and in10 more games they can all start playing Baseball.

The coach at EC knows his players and has always gotten the most out of them.I've seen them play several times this year and there isn't much difference in his first 7 or 8 players,He is probably trying to keep fresh legs on the floor and score off the defense because he doesn't have a dominate offensive threat. That will keep you in most games except when the other team has better atheletes as Kountze and Anahuac do.If the Bucs get in the playoffs this will be a successful season for them.Have faith in your coach,he knows his stuff.

I can agree with fresh legs in most cases but when the fresh legs are not producing  you have to keep the players on the floor that are. In this game the two players that were on the floor with your fresh legs had a combined 5 points the two on the bench had 20, I think the point of this game is to put up more points than the other team. In the middle of the game it is hard to change your game plan, but I hope he watches the tape and makes the right adjustments for the next time they play.

I think you missed the point of my post.It wasn't only about fresh legs but the overall ability of the players.EC has about 8 players with pretty equal abilities. They simply don't have a stand out offensive guy that can carry the club.I think that's why the coach is working the line up like he is,to be able to stay aggressive on the defensive end where he gets most of his points.EC's strength this year is their coaching staff, they will take them as far as possible withe the talent they have.I think that will be the 3rd playoff spot which would be a successful season for this group.

What difference does it make who is keeping stats. They are what they are. I see alot of people keeping up with what is going on in the game. The facts are that the last 3 min of the game the 2 and 3 high point players were not on the floor. And the ones that were ,were not producing on that night. When the game is on the line you have to put the players that are putting up points on the floor. Are just lose like they did. Not saying that you have to play any player ever game but you have to put the players that are producing on that night  on the floor. Ever one has a off night and when that happen you have to go with someone that is producing.

What about defense? Could these #2 and #3 scorers possibly be a liability on defense? ;)
You could be right but, one is leading the team in blocks and rebounds, and the other is leading the team in steals. Just saying on this night those two players should have been on the floor at the end of that game.

There is no sense trying to make these kids something there not. These coaches have consistantly took teams pretty deep over the years. They know what they are doing.Just relax and let them do what they get paid to do,they are pretty good at it.The teams that are beating EC right now are just a little better than they are, it probably wouldn't matter who was on the floor the results would be the same.
Well this tells me alot. The head coach is only in his 2 year and one of his assistances has never been around basketball untill this year. The head coach did take a team to the 2 round last year but I would not call that CONSISTANTLY. You had me going untill this post ???

Actually Coach Andrews has been with the team for years now, especially when EC made trips to the Regional Tournament for four consecutive years in a row. The only difference was is that he was with the team as the assistant. Hargraves was a good coach but Coach Andrews would have done the exact same if not better had he been the head coach at the time. So I would think it's safe to say that Coach Andrews is well qualified to be coaching the team and knows the team and what combinations of players will put the team in the best position to win the game, especially at the end of the game when it is on the line.
What this sounds like to me is an angry parent his kid isn't getting to play as much as they thought they would JMO.

Thanks new school, you took the words right out of my mouth.I have watched EC for years and Coach Andrews and Coach Hargraves both consistantly did a great job year in and year out. They always played Kountze tough even though I always felt like Kountze had the better overall club.Fact is they know the game and how to get the most out of their players.Coaches want to win more than anyone so they will put the best players on the floor which isn't always popular with the mommas and daddies.
Just FYI I probably have watched EC more over the last 8 to 10 years than you have.I watched Chris Joseph,Preston Guillory,Tramain Thomas and both McDonald boys more than I care to remember and Coach Andrews was on the bench most of the time.So yea I would say he has won consistantly.

This last sentence in this post sums it all up.

I have watched East Chambers in many games over the last few years, including several this year. The coaching staff is doing what is best for the team, always have, always will.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what sour grapes are. ;)

Were did I say that the coaches were not qualified. What I said is that on this one night that the players that were on the floor at the end of this game had not produced anything in this one game. And there were two sitting on the bench that had been putting up points. Everyone has a off game and when that happens you have to go with the one that are. In the next game the starters might have a great game and then they need to stay on the floor and the backups need to play less. JMO but you have to adjust to who is hot on that night and you have to put those 5 players on the floor that night. Everone has said that this team has not got a star player but they have 8 that are pretty good and you have to find out witch 5 of those 8 are on that night and get them on the floor. The fact about my sons playing time has nothing to do with the fact I wont them to win first. If he is playing or not I just wont them to win, and have a winning season.

True Blue, all of your posts on this subject matter have obviously pointed out that you think #33(your son) should always be on the floor. You have made that quite clear.

Don't crawfish and say you just want them to win, regardless of who is on the floor. All of your posts regarding EC basketball has had an agenda attached to it. We know what that agenda is, don't we. ;) ::)
I would like for you to show me were I have ever put my son or anyone above winning. I do feal that they are not using him as they should but that is like beating a dead horse they dont feed the ball to anyone inside. I have talked to the coach a he said that they try to work on feeding both post players but come game time that seams to never happen. So that being said on this night the two players that I have pointed out should have been on the floor at the end of THAT game.  As far as my son goes he is getting his playing time and when in he is producing That is all he can do. He  is leading the whole team in rebounds, blocks and free throwes and 2 in scoring. So he is happy to be playing at EC. Just wonts to win and move on in the playoffs
