bkatdog Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 The 2010 3A Top 20 has been posted and locals Orangefield and Jasper lead a strong region that also includes Bridge City,Carthage, and Hudson to top 20 status. This year should be a good year for local talent that might end with another trip to Austin for this region.1. Giddings2. Orangefield3. Jasper4. Lubbock Estacado5. West6. Farmersville7. Bridge City8. Guest BCNatureBoy Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 tim baugh does a great job with that site. he does an excellent job tracking down the top programs in the state. no shock that orangefield and jasper are up at the top. bc has a lot of work to do to keep the district crown from going down the bayou. coach bennett has done an excellent job with the bobcats and has his field looking better according to kogt. jasper will always be competitive and dangerous as long as coach mixon is at the helm. he showed sate champ carthage a lot of respect with only 2 starters returning he listed them as #12.http://3abaseball.com/
Speedkills Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Like that jasper ranking lookfor it to be higher by seasons end ;)
adminbaberuth Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Looks like the high school baseball fan will be in for treat this year. Three locals in the Top 10 in 3A. Expect some more when 4A comes out, southeast texas takes no backseat in regards to baseball in this state.
baseballjunkie Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 21-3a is always represented well.
Critter Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 21-3A along with Jasper should hold the top three spots IMO.... Don't see how they have BC at #7 and OF at #2..... Anybody have any reasons for this?????
Bobkat Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Orangefield returns 8 starters and most of it's pitching from last years team that went 3 rounds deep and gave Bridge City fits in that 3 game series. Add to the mix Corey Huckabay who was MVP of Hull Daisetta's district last year and I can see them being ranked ahead of Bridge City right now. BC always reloads and they will be tough again this year, so they're still the team to beat in the district because they've been on top for so long.
horndawg Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 To me, it seems as if it's Orangefields to lose at this point. Having signed two players with two of the top Big XII schools, and returning as many as they are, can anyone give me a reason as to why the shouldn't be a favorite this year? And for those who don't know how impressive having 2 division 1 players on one team, can anyone name the last time this has happened?
East TX Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 We have heard it all before year-after-year, yet OF..... NEVER beats Bridge City.....I would rank the poll with BC and OF tied for first place with Jasper at # 3. lol

Now, the proof is in the pudding.

What does "The poof is in the pudding" mean?:It means that the true value or quality of something can only be judged when it's put to use or tried and tested. The meaning is often summed up as: "Results are what count...it's not how you start, but how you finish."

PhatMack19 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I think he means pre-season rankings are nice, but now you have to prove it on the field.

Have you ever seen an OF vs. BC game? When have they won on the field against BC?? And how you finish?? WOW you really don't know anything about BC baseball or you would know that they finish strong every year while OF is at home.[/quote]That's what I am saying. OF needs to prove/earn their ranking on the field. All I know about BC baseball is what I get from Dishon and Menard during the summer. (My son plays on the Sundevils with them.) No doubt BC is a top notch high school baseball program.

He's got some decent stuff and is a Bulldog on the mound.
