Poppabear, welcome to the world of inner city basketball....They do the same in Dallas.

Coach Greg Wise is a good guy...He told every coach on the schedule this year - No offense but we want to break the all-time scoring record....Well, they are well on their way.

Has nothing to do with class. These are how these kids play basketball. baseline to baseline from start to finish.

Was it classless in 91 when HJ was running the score up on everybody? Why is it so bad now?  If yall were capable of scoring 170 you know they would have and you would be right there cheering hypocrite.

Good news for Lee is theyll get their CHANCE at revenge later in the year  ;D
I wonder how the Yates non-basketball coaches feel about this.

I recall during the middle of Kountze's record-setting losing streak in football(back in the 80's), Orangefield went and spanked Kountze 99-0.  Actually, the game wasn't as close as it seems... there were only 2 digits to post the OF score and word had it that they scored 107!!

Sadly for Orangefield, however, Kountze had to play them that year in basketball and I recall hearing about a world-class beatdown.  Of course, it may not have reached 170 - 35, but in any event, the Houston Yates football coach may have some long Friday nights ahead of him next year!!!  People don't forget things like that very easily.

I am with you Poppa. There is NEVER a reason to beat ANY team by 135 points!!

Chad, that's a lame excuse and you know it.

I am sure the coaching fraternity is applauding this great man Wise. ::)

How bad did yall beat Legacy? 120?  So now a 100 has a cap on it?  I guess 120 is the max before it gets classless!
Was HJ pressing the whole game when they beat Legacy or did they put in their bench and pull back on defense?

The only time I saw HJ press the whole game during a blow-out like that was when the other team's coach told Coach Sutherland to keep up the pressure.  It seems the other coach wanted to teach his own players a lesson.

Silsbee beat Legacy 125-54. 71 point win. About half as much as what Yates just did. Silsbee did not press the entire second half and no starter played past the 6 minute mark of the 3rd quarter.

I had a chance to attend that Yates game.  All day yesterday I was turning it over in my head, should I go to the Yates game, or should I stay committed to a prior appointment.  I ended up going with the prior appointment.  Butler fieldhouse is only a few miles from where I was working.

I don't think I wanted to see a game like that anyway.

    • I too, wish #15 was healthy and playing.  And also another RB (can't recall the #), who went down in the first game of the season. But, some others have stepped up and are hard runners.  I'm really looking forward to watching this game.
    • Still, from what little I saw, it should have been a much closer game.  WOS was missing some fundamentals on defense, and a lack of imaginative play calling on offense.  Just my opinion as an objective observer on Texan Live, which was horrible btw, but that's another story.
    • Either way,one game lead in the series. I rely to much on word of mouth
    • West Orange Stark has been a powerhouse since I csn remember. At some point, your bound to fall off to some degree. Alabama has 3 or 4 loses this season. Who would have thought? Has Orange lost kids to LCM or even Orangefield?
    • Interesting matchup this Friday. Both teams have very good offensive and defensive lines, which will make this game interesting. Having watched Texas High all season, they have a wide open offense with very good skill players. If you look at their stats they run the ball 57% of the time and pass 43% of the time. Personally, that is a bit deceiving, as most of their games have seen reserves running the ball in the 4th quarter. I would estimate the primary offense is 50/50. Through 12 games they have run for 3,224 yds (48tds) and passed for 2,894 yds (32 yds). Potter, the Tiger QB, has been very efficient with a 69% completion rate and 1 interception (which came from a tipped pass). The passing is distributed primarily to 4 receivers…. Ball (865), Wrightner (811), Montgomery (532), & Pilgreen (392). The rushing comes from 3 running backs … Johnson (1,432), Ball (768) & Moore (716).  The Tiger defense is solid and very quick.    Hope #15 is healthy enough to play. He is a test for any defense. I was concerned about the Nederland RB, but felt Texas High did a good job containing him. I wish this game was in the afternoon, as Nachitoches is having their Festival of Lights and their will not be any rooms in the inns and restaurants will be full so plan accordingly. PNG are state champions until someone knocks them off, so I extend the Indians the respect they deserve. Pulling for the Tigers.
