3rd ward has some nice homes in McGregor but it is not an atractive shool to recruit.  Player for Player Bellaire is WWWWAAAAYYYY more talented than Yates... But I bet Yates would beat them 9 times out of 10... Mostly because of Wise and his style of play!  Bellaire has 3 BIG TIME D1 prospects on its tream.

Then when Yates plays Bellaire, feel free to press at will if the game is competetive. Not if it's 100-12 at halftime.

We shall see.  After all the negative attention put on the program, I'm betting they take it down a notch when they get up big.   I wouldn't bet my life savings on it though.
Wise has the green light from HISD administrators.

Publicly, he might have a green light.  I'm still betting that he was told privately to tone it down.  i don't have any inside info.  I'm just reading quotes from the AD and he didn't sound too pleased with the situation.
hMM! Take a look at the Yayes Sharpstown scores and make your decision.

That score at least gives the "apperance" that Sharpstown was an active participant.
yes sir; much better athletic kids at Sharpstown. In fact, I tallked to the high scorer yesterday for Sharpstown. He said he got about 40 points.

Yates will not catch any flack from a score of this nature. We all like offense. That's what people pay to see. We do not like a "bully". That's what the Lee score looked like: A bully taking the weaker kids lunch money. It was just not justifiable.

I agree.  When the opponent is scoring and breaking the press occasionally, it won't raise an eyebrow.  A 40 point whipping is a long cry from a 135 point beatdown.

History Lesson...

Let me clear on thing up Nic played at Cinco Ranch is Freshman Year 2002... Hi Dad was the coach at Hightower.

2001 Willowridge wins State (TJ Ford)
2002 Hightower Gets to State first round exit
2003 Hightower Gets to State first round exit
2004 Hightower loses in the Regional Final to Milby (Nic Playing as a sophmore) - Greg Leaves
2005 Kingwood wins State (Nic Wise)
2006 Kingwood loses State Championship (Nic Wise)

So yes he could have won State as a coach!  He had been knocking on the door even before his son came to play for him!  He chose because of some circumstances that only he knows to WATCH his sons play!

Lesson #2 is that Greg was fired from Lee in the early 90's, after being one of the only winning coaches, so he probably had a chip on his shoulder!  They actually went from Cellar Dwellar to Playoff team while he was there.  2 out of his five years they qualified for the Playoffs... in a third year he lost a one game playoff to get into the playoffs...  After he left.. Lee went back to the cellar.

Did you guys know that Lee pressed the entire game?
If I am DOWN 100 at the half. Yes, I would press too.

That's how you get cheap baskets! That's what the whole problem is in a nutshell.

Actually, You can't get cheap baskets if you press!!! You can only get cheap baskets if you break the press or turnover the team that is being pressed!  You have to be good at it or you will give up easy baskets... If you can't do it effectively you should back off.

The Lee coach started the game in the press and stayed in it.  On of his main problems... He never backed out of it and gave Yates way too many easy baskets!  Yates broke Lee's press with ease!  That means back out of it, slow the game down and then you can surpress the score!  Instead they did the opposite, The Lee coach was wrong too!
