TexasTerror Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Per Football Scoop - guessing, if true, that Woodard realizes that Mainord was a Whitten assistant at both Tarleton St and SHSU - so this would be a great step in keeping with the same offensive scheme, which is what Woodard wants to do.[quote]Lamar University: Ray Woodard has talked with former Sam Houston State head coach Todd Whitten regarding the offensive coordinator position. Guest coachacola Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Thanks for info TT. I bet hiring Whitten would be a long shot but if he did come aboard Woodard would be hiring someone who knows al lot about the other teams in the SLC.
LumberCard Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Wouldn't be a totally crazy move. Whitten needs a job, Lamar needs an OC and Whitten has a pretty good understanding of the SLC. From what I know of Whitten, he was a horrible head coach but a solid offensive mind. He probably never should have been given the head coaching job at Sam Houston, but that's thier problem that I guess they have now "fixed".

Denton Record-Chronicle was trying to chase him down.Whitten is a known commodity around the state and has been an OC for SHSU and Wyoming.

He installed the offense that made SHSU one of the tops in the league.
