East Chambers vs. Woodville

I have seen EC play on two different occasions and the Carrington girl is a great player especially for a Sophmore. EC's speed and press really hurts other teams. This EC team looks like the teams this schooll use to produce in the 90's and early 2000's. With that said I have not seen Woodville play this year, has anyone seen both teams play lately and who do you think could win the potential regional match up?

2 time All State McNeil, All State Taylor, Humphrey, Gilder, Gill, Mitchell, supporting cast of Barlow, Moye, Williams, Battise, from the starting five or any combination players... the Woodville Lady Eagles have the potential to reach the State tournament with a perfect season. the past two years the EC team has played them very tough games but the Lady Eagles have the talent to make it to Austin for the 3rd year in a row.

Lots of familiar last names in that EC group but Woodville still wins the matchup.

I agree lady eagles should be STATEBOUND again. But I disagree that EC isnt a good team. EC has played them tough games in past years and the girls remember that. What's in Woodville's favor is the number of offensive & defensive weapons EACH player brings to the court. This years team is a coach's dream team. The seniors are shining for a career past high school and juniors and sophmores can continue the level of play for next year.

Yes newton beat hemphill but newton is terrible, im not sure what happened to the lady hornets that night. No one said ec isnt't a good team. They've had a successful year as well, but going up a group of girls who have been to state the last 2 years in a row and only losing one non starter? that's just the way it goes. ec wont get respect until they beat woodville. i said beat, not play them well and only lose in a close game. to get respect you gotta earn it. thats not a knock to the ec girls, but woodville is one of the most respected girls teams in this area, not too many people will go against them unless youre from ec. thats just the way sports work. if you wanna get respect prove something and beat woodville. and if you do, i will be the first to give you your props on here

Yes, Woodville has been to state the passes two years but I would just put all your eggs in that basket. East Chambers is fast and talented this year and has one of the best and most successful coaches in the area not to mention the EC has a pretty good history of dominance. Hopefully both teams will meet during Regionals, that would be a great match up.

    • I too, wish #15 was healthy and playing.  And also another RB (can't recall the #), who went down in the first game of the season. But, some others have stepped up and are hard runners.  I'm really looking forward to watching this game.
    • Still, from what little I saw, it should have been a much closer game.  WOS was missing some fundamentals on defense, and a lack of imaginative play calling on offense.  Just my opinion as an objective observer on Texan Live, which was horrible btw, but that's another story.
    • Either way,one game lead in the series. I rely to much on word of mouth
    • West Orange Stark has been a powerhouse since I csn remember. At some point, your bound to fall off to some degree. Alabama has 3 or 4 loses this season. Who would have thought? Has Orange lost kids to LCM or even Orangefield?
    • Interesting matchup this Friday. Both teams have very good offensive and defensive lines, which will make this game interesting. Having watched Texas High all season, they have a wide open offense with very good skill players. If you look at their stats they run the ball 57% of the time and pass 43% of the time. Personally, that is a bit deceiving, as most of their games have seen reserves running the ball in the 4th quarter. I would estimate the primary offense is 50/50. Through 12 games they have run for 3,224 yds (48tds) and passed for 2,894 yds (32 yds). Potter, the Tiger QB, has been very efficient with a 69% completion rate and 1 interception (which came from a tipped pass). The passing is distributed primarily to 4 receivers…. Ball (865), Wrightner (811), Montgomery (532), & Pilgreen (392). The rushing comes from 3 running backs … Johnson (1,432), Ball (768) & Moore (716).  The Tiger defense is solid and very quick.    Hope #15 is healthy enough to play. He is a test for any defense. I was concerned about the Nederland RB, but felt Texas High did a good job containing him. I wish this game was in the afternoon, as Nachitoches is having their Festival of Lights and their will not be any rooms in the inns and restaurants will be full so plan accordingly. PNG are state champions until someone knocks them off, so I extend the Indians the respect they deserve. Pulling for the Tigers.
