Yates' 100-point streak ends in win over Westbury

Running up the score is wrong and Im not a fan of it, but that coach did say before the season that they were going for the scoring record. So let Houston Yates get their national glory this year and move on.

In a game this past week against Westbury, a game in which Yates won 94-64, Yates showed more arrogance, disrepect, and extreme lack of class.  Westbury, for most of the game used a slow tempo offense, trying to keep Yates from the 100 point barrier.  Needing 6 points in the final 1:30, already up 30 for most of the game, Yates decided to immediately foul after Westbury inbounded the ball, sending them to the free throw line, so they could get the ball back and get to 100 points. 

Straight up lack of respect, and border line thuggery.

I can't wait to see the Yates', and Greg Wise lovers to defend this BS.

Messed up to you AAW but that team is on a mission to break the scoring record. If they want to get 100, they are going to do everything possible to get it. Fouling to get the ball back to score alot isnt anything I agree with in a team, but Yates had a gameplan to score triple digits and Westbury had a gameplan to not let them do that. I dont think anybody, especially Bluedove, likes to see that kind of play but at least he understands their mission this year.

I have not said a word on this subject but after reading about the latest I find Yates acts completely classless.  If you can't score a 100 in a particular game due to the way the other team is playing so be it.  Leading by thirty with a few minutes to go and fouling to score 100 is absolutely ridiculous.  You can try to justify it any way you like but any high shool or college coach(I feel pros are paid so it is their job to prevent a team from running up the score) that does this will never get the respect he feels he deserves from his peers. And for that matter most fans, even though I am sure the fans respect does not matter. If I was an opposing coach going against Yates,  my game plan from the start of the game would be 4 corners, no shot other than layups.  Make Yates steal the ball to score their points.  It is obvious no one can run with them so frustrate them the entire game.  Sure you probably wouldn't beat them but you may prevent them from making another "statement."

Dove, is the point to win the game, or is it just to score 100 points.  It seems like to me Wise would be just as happy scoring 120 and losing than scoring 90 and losing.

The guy is straight up classless, and a borderline ghetto thug.  I'm sure the Yates kids would benefit much much more from lessons of humility, class, respect, and learning how to be multiple and playing more than one style.  The ghetto needs that much more than they need a MYTHICAL #1 national ranking.

Exactly, so if I walk up to you and tell you I am going to punch you and knock all your teeth out, it's okay when I actually do it. Stating that you are going to do something doesn't just automatically make it okay for you to do it. I know I am comparing a criminal act to basketball and they are on very different scales, but the principal is definitely the same.

Their goal is to score the most points. I feel bad for the teams on their schedule that have to go through with it. But if you dont want that to happen, gameplan against it. Yates has certain goals for the year, just like every team. Most teams set goals to win district or state championships. Yates has set higher goals than that, like record breaking scores.
