The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men's basketball team will be looking for another conference victory Wednesday, when they go on the road for a 7 p.m. game at Tyler Junior College.

Lamar State is 15-5 overall and 5-4 in Region XIV play after Saturday's 89-78 victory over Bossier Parish Community College in a game that was moved from the Carl Parker Center to McDonald Gym at Lamar University
after a ship collision on the Intercoastal Waterway near the college caused the evacuation of downtown Port Arthur.

Lamar State head coach Matt Cross said, "Any win in this conference is a great win, especially when you give up your home court to play at a neutral site and take yourself out of normal home game routine. I was praying the decision would not come back to haunt us."

Cross was pleased with the turnout for the game.

"Lamar State fans made a big impression on our team when they showed up in Beaumont to support us," Cross said.

Cross has been looking forward to Wednesday's game at Tyler.

"This game is special to me because I coached two years at Texas College, which also is in Tyler," Cross said. "Tyler Junior College is a great college basketball venue. The atmosphere will be a big
challenge for our freshman players. The match-up will be equal in talent, but Tyler has more experience, which gives them another advantage in the game."

Tyler (12-5, 5-4) is coming off a 72-68 Saturday road victory at Lee College. The Apaches won their last three starts, including a victory over South Zone leader San Jacinto College.

Lamar State returns to the Carl Parker Center on Saturday for a 4 p.m. conference game with Trinity Valley Community College.
