WOS vs. HJ Updates

Recommended Posts

WOS is a very athletic team.  They aren't as polished as HJ, but they play hard and had the athletes to beat the press tonight and hold their own on the glass.  Turner was saddled with 3 fouls early in the 2nd quarter, Gus got hurt in the middle of the second quarter, and Sutherland didn't hit a shot all night.  HJ's bench came in and did a good job maintaining their lead going into the half.  Once the second started, WOS got hot from deep.  They hit three 3s in four possessions, and then made a couple of easy layups to take the lead.  #3 was incredible for them.  he hit at least 5 or 6 treys for them, many of which were contested.  the longball and solid freethrow shooting kept the mustangs in it, and they easily could've pulled this one out.  They played a really good game, and with HJ not at their sharpest, they were lucky to escape with a win.

Gus came back out in the second half with his leg all wrapped up and played well.  It's not often he shoots the three ball, but he hit three of them tonight, and we really needed them.  When he went down, I thought the game, and the season, had just gone down the drain.  Glad he trotted back on the court for the second hallf...

Congratulations to WO-S for a great effort in the Hawk's nest.  That was a great game that could've gone either way.  #3 kept making long threes, and their big fella has a nice skill set.  The Mustangs are fairly big and very athletic, run the floor and crash the boards well, and seem to be well coached.  Most importantly, they played basketball.  I didn't see any trash-talking, chest-thumping, or cheap stuff on the court the entire game-- which was, I think, a first for this season, and refreshing.  Congrats to both teams on a great, hard-fought game.

Very good assessment Bullets!!!!!!  HJ IMHO was looking forward to Silsbee on Friday night.  Sutherland had 2 points and both of those coming from the line.  Turner did not shoot well either.  Gus who was hurt in the first half came out and carried HJ in the 2nd half.  WOS shot the ball extremely well from downtown and controlled the glass on both ends of the floor.  Thus you have a close game.

props go to Sean Weldon for stepping up big at the end of the 2nd quarter.

he sure did!  he came in and made two big plays in about 30 seconds!
[/quote]That's about the 2nd or 3rd time that Sean has done this.  He's incredible, because you'd never see it in him if you watched him.
