Guest coachacola Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 New photos of the dorms, engineering building, and athletic complex. It's good to see all these changes to the campus.http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=143840&id=11505429287
AJ25 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Looks good! They really have to get a move on with the athletic facility though.
Bobcat1 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 What about parking? It's horrible. I don't where to add more parking, but maybe someone can help Lamar and give them some suggestions. ;D
smith Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I think LU may own the land where Hardee's used to be (vacant lots now) - opposite corner from the stadium (across the street). A parking Garage would be good there. Students would have easy access to campus/library area as well as to the stadium.
AJ25 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Surely we're not the only ones bright enough to think of this stuff.. It's just money that's slowing the process I assume. There is only so much parking available around Lamar's campus. They would have to buy lots of houses to create more room.
Guest coachacola Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 There was an article this past fall about the lack of parking and Dr. Simmons said they looked into building a parking garage but it was too expensive right now. They have been putting in some temporary lots around campus for parking. Lamar is in the process of buying most of the property between Rolfe Christopher, MLK and Cardinal Drive. I read somewhere that they've been given the green light to spend up to $2 million to speed up the process. There are other projects on the drawing board too so lot's of good things are happening on campus.
AJ25 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 A parking garage would be perfect. All of this stuff is great, but when will the school receive a face lift? It seems like a little face lift at least on the outside of the building shouldn't be too terribly pricey. After seeing so many schools across the state, Lamar is definitely one of the least visually appealing schools.
AJ25 Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 coachocola, is the softball field still going adjacent to the baseball field?
ForeverADog Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 The last I heard the softball field was going to be next to the baseball and soccer facilities. As far as parking. They have added 5 small gravel parking lots and 1 decent size one next to the rec. And parking is still pretty bad but could be a lot worse had they not built it.

[/quote]They had also taken in a good part of the old band practice marching field / intramural field behind the old sorority dorms.
Guest jhamilton Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Good place to send kid to college bc my boy is a junior and has been good to him.
TexazBall Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 They have Sority Dorms at Lamar?..I never knew that
AJ25 Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Old sorority dorms. Now it's just houses.
