Vidor could travel this year and Crosby could come to Vidor next season. NO EXCUSE!
How does that change the fact of them fearing for their safety?

I thought the coach sets up his schedule not the school board that says alot about Crosby coaching staff.
This whole thing is being blown up so big for nothing.  It has nothing to due with race of the school or fear of the safty of the students and fans of Crosby. It also has nothing to do with the coaching staff.  If it did then they would not have scheduled them in the first place.... In every sport, the coach makes a schedule, it is then passed by the AD then the board. The word I got is it had to do with expenses and traveling to the same district twice. (already play PNG)
That is the biggest nonsense statement I have ever heard, nothing to do with expenses

The question I have.....when is Crosby ISD going to come out and talk about this in the public?? Or are they going to weasel out of it and hide the whole time??

It came straight from the man himself why they dropped vidor. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FINANCES. The sup. was told by two school board members that they did not want to come to vidor because of the race issue. The sup then caved in and told the head coach to drop vidor. I am very disappointed in the sup. If you look at their website he preaches about diveristy and helping everyone get along, and how they take great pride in including everyone. This guy must not believe what he says or else he is just a puppet. It is very discouraging to see all the work that Coach Mathews and his staff have done thrown away by some who is still living in the past. It personally makes me want to throw up.

The school board does not "vote" on the football schedule. They may have voted on the Travel Budget Request and denied the request at that time. You probably will not hear from the Supt or the School Board on this issue. To address it publicaly would infer that some sort of mistake was made. They will not admit to anything of that nature.

Attached is the district's web link. My suggestion is to address your concerns to them directly.
It sounds to me like a couple of idiots in Crosby have managed to set back race relations in their community for at least a decade. IMO they need to be voted out of office and the Sup should be fired for caving in to this stupid demand----------IF that is the way it happened
or you may be wrong!!!! Unless your ties are with the school board in Crosby, then you don't know.
It seems you are from vidor sense you are crediting Coach Mathews and his staff on the job that they have done.
The word around Crosby is that it had to do with finances... and that is all we have to take it for... sense we don't work on the school board and don't know what really happened....
Even if that was the case, you really can't blame Flanigan or the sup. Flanigan has to answer to the sup and the sup has to answer to the school board.  You can't blame a community for the actions of a couple of people. Just like I can not blame the whole town of Vidor for the KKK protests in the streets in the 90's, or when I wittness the helcking of a black coach from Livingstion by some fans in the croud when he was walking to the press box when Livingston played Vidor last year.

There is discrimination in both area's.....personally I wish this could all go away... but that is the world we live in today....

I don't want this to become a Crosby bashing..... Crosby is a great place to raise your kids.... I moved to this area from the golden triangle and have found just as much community interaction, pride, and sportsmanship....
Both places are great!!!!!!

The kkk in the 90's consisted of 4 people who drove in from mississippi. The people from Vidor protested them being their.  Vidor police officers had to escort the 4 idiots safely out of Vidor.  The fact is anything bad that happens racially withen 100 miles of Vidor, the people of  Vidor get blamed for it.  It was racially motivated go and look your school district in the face and see if you believe their answer. Or better yet let's get the 2 districts together and find out the truth.  I don't blame coach flanigan or the crosby community but I do believe this sort of thing should not go unpunished.

This came from your head coach....I am not blaming him, but that is what he said...you can only spin it so many ways.... I am not bashing crosby, I personally have friends that work there, I am just  upset by the way this was handled. By the way crosby contacted vidor about playing....so if it is  a financial issue then why would the head coach call and want to set up a game?
Posted
The financial excuse seems far-fetched.  The school board throws away money right and left on pet projects and always seem to want another bond election or tax increase every three years or so.  The other sports teams travel farther than you might realize.  Don't hold this against the whole town for the actions of a couple of neanderthal board members.

It sure seems that the Crosby Board and Sup needs to make a clear public statement
Unless they have made public statements prior to today regarding this issue why would they need to publicaly defend their decision now?

Crosby = Laughingstock.  This reminds me of the movie idiocracy.  Gas prices are lower than they were last year and Ennis is definitely further than Vidor. What's the problem? Things like this are why crosby gets no respect.

It's obvious to most that Crosby is the community with race problems rather than Vidor.

I hold Coach Flanigan to at least being partial to blame.  He scheduled the game/s.  He went to school in Lumberton and coached in Orangefield (2 of the many good schools in the Triangle).  He knows about all the area schools.  He should have stood up, told everyone about the good people in the Triangle and insisted the game be played as he scheduled.  I am convinced that he could have kept the game on his schedule.  I have never heard of an AD with even a small amount of courage letting the Superintendent tell him who not to play for a bogus reason like this.

Other Texas communities that have Crosby on their schedules should insist on a credible answer.  If I thought it was BS; I would petition my school to cancel the game.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone concerning how serious the race problems are in Crosby.  Must have been very bad for the community to react in this manner.

Crosby ISD owes the entire Vidor community a public apology for their being narrow minded!

Crosby should give a reason for dropping Vidor from the schedule. This is why I like watching Crosby lose.

I agree...it never gets old!

Now I see why Crosby is scared to go to vidor:

The stadium isn't by a trailer park is it?

I'd be scared of that too.
