Will Lamar will 20 games?

After Lamar beats Lyon College tomorrow they'll be 14-11 and 5-4 in conference.  Can they win 6 more games and have a 20 win season?  Did anything think it was even remotely possible for them to win 20 games just a few weeks ago? 

They have home games against SHSU, UTSA and TAMU-CC.  They need to win 2 of 3.  They have road games at Texas State, NW State, UTA and Nicholls State.  They should win at least 2 of those games.  That would put them at 18-14 overall, 9-7 in conference.  2 wins in the SLC tourney would get them to 20 wins for the season.

Even if they don't win 20, this team is heading towards a better season than last year.  Last year their high mark was 10-4 and 1-0 in conference, and they had a tough schedule.  Injuries and what not took their toll and they finished 6-10 in conference.  This year they were 7-7 after 14 games and they didn't have that tough of a schedule.  Everyone is healthy and the young guys are playing better each game.  A lot can happen this month but I'm feeling pretty optimistic now that they will not fade again.

Don't see them beating both SH and TAMCC, but if they play defense like they did against SFA, they could win one of those.

Saying LU should win any road games at this point is ridiculous. Gotta win more than one on the road to start counting future road wins!

I say LU goes 3-4 down the stretch (after Lyon) and finishes 17-15 (8-8) getting a 6 seed and facing TAMCC in a one and done SLC tournament because we really don't have an outside threat. Overall 17-16. Which is a very good year for a young and improving team. Gotta get a 40+% guy from downtown.

Making the tournament is an acomplishment by itself.  This squad has dealt with a lot this season.  Injuries have kept the team from meeting higher expectations.  Ashton Hall has not played all season.  Nabors is still not at 100%, but his contribution has been crucial.  Buck Miles has exceeded expectations at the point.  This is a developing team on a weekly basis.  No 20 wins, but two victories on the road will say a lot.  Anything goes in the tournament.  If they go in loose, neutralize the boards and minimize the turnovers, anything could happen.  I'm convinced if they keep their nucleus in tact, get a JC bruiser on the boards and a JC perimeter player they will be in the mix for the conference in '10-'11.

Doesn't Lamar go back to the SLC East in '10-11?

If so, there's no reason NOT to be in the mix. Lamar will find success in the East.

Are you still harping about going back to the East division?  It really doesn't matter since the ultimate goal is to get to the NCAA tourney and win there.

Well I think it definitely is possible. However, I do think I would take the under if i were a betting man. But if the way they played defensely and the way they excuted the 2nd half on offense Saturday night continues, they might win more than 20.
