ST413 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Big game for the Tigers. We struggled with OF at home. This is the Tigers last game without leading scorer Pheal Hill. Need a win tonight to leave themselves in the top position going into next weeks showdown in Sour Lake.

Orangefield finally hit a 3 and closed the 1st quarter, trailing 16-7. In the second quarter, Silsbee and Orangefield basically traded baskets the whole quarter as neither team could get on any kind of big run. Silsbee did get a 10 point lead at 30-20 but Orangefield's Granger hit a 3 to end the quarter with Silsbee leading 30-23. The Tigers were led by Lane's 11 and Stallworth's 7 points while the Bobcats were led in the first half by Cole's 7 and Hollan's 6.The start of the 3rd saw Orangefield cut the Tiger lead to the closest of the night at 4, 30-26. But then the Tigers got on a roll. Silsbee went on a 13-2 run, pushing their lead to 15 at 43-28. Lane continued his scoring while Silsbee senior post Jones got it going , getting 6 points in the quarter. Tigers led after 3, 49-35.In the 4th, Silsbee actually stretched their lead to as many as 20 on two different occasions, 60-40 and 67-47. Silsbee coasted to their 17th straight win, finishing it off by winning by 18, 67-49.Prentice Lane again was the man tonight for the Tigers as he led them with 26 points. Lane has definitely mastered the tear drop shot as he floated through the lane with ease in collecting the majority of his points. Stallworth had a solid night with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Jones continues to be a monster on the boards for Silsbee as he collected 13 rebounds to go along with his 10 points. Thomas also got his share of rebounds as he grabbed 10 while scoring 6 points and getting 4 block shots. That runs his season total to 160, which leaves him 2 shy of the school record.Orangefield again lived and died by their outside shooting, attempting 22 three's, hitting 7. The Bobcats only went to the foul line 10 times but that was due to their taking outside shots 80% of the time, instead of working it inside against Silsbee's trees. Orangefield never let this game really get away from them, but Silsbee was in control of this game from start to finish.Another good, solid win for Silsbee wo move the record to 25-2, 8-0 in district. One more win clinches at least a share of the district title.
