Most people in the area know H-D is gonna be loaded with talent for the next 4 seasons. This will be H-D's most talented group since the early 90's. I feel like H-D will easily handle WH for the next 4 seasons. Lovelady and WS will be our only hard games. Lovelady lost their 3 best players to graduation and WS won only 3 games last year. But just my opinion.

I am sure I hype my team up every year. But we have never had this much talent stacked this high since the early 90's. All throughout the early 90's we beat everyone in District 50-0 every game.  ;) ;D

Talent stacked in HD like it was in the early 90s? Let's take a look at how that run went.

90 - lost in first round to Alto 40-21
91 - lost in first round to Grapeland 39-6
92 - failed to qualify for playoffs
93 - lost in first round to San Augustine (score not available)
94 - lost in first round to Alto 35-7
95 - failed to qualify for playoffs

I bet all the teams in 1A are saying "ruh roh"

Very true post. We have not always done very good in the playoffs. Those teams we lost to in the playoffs won State almost every time. What I said was we were crushing teams in District during the early 90's. Pull that up !!

What?! So none of the teams that beat those stacked HD teams won state? Say it ain't so Joe, say it ain't so.

Also, in that timeframe HD finished 2nd twice and failed to make the playoffs twice. Maybe they had to forfeit several of those 50-0 crushings they were dishing out to the rest of their district. Or maybe, just maybe, your memory is a little hazy. I can understand that, it has been quite a while since those glory days. Anecdotal evidence is a kind of evidence, right?

Here's some more good news for you, Alto, Grapeland, and Garrison are in the same region. Since the Carter administration (1980 so you don't have to look it up), two of those teams have more state championships than HD has playoff victories.

Tradition should be made of sterner stuff.

First of all most of your info is miss leading. During the early 90's H-D had awesome teams. We almost always were knocked out of the playoffs by Alto or Groveton. If you really knew football you would know those two teams always were dominant and went very far in the playoffs. I understand your dislike of H-D, you probaly were crushed by us when you played. Also do some better research pal, H-D has won a State Championship and at one time had the nations longest winning streak at 43 straight games won. Not 41 but 43. Feel free to look it up. Don't be a hater !! H-D has one of the highest winning percentages in SETX behind only a handful of teams. Also you better look again buddy H-D has been whipping butt in the playoffs since the 30's !!! Check out these links pretty stern !! Some people !!  ;) ;D :-*

I don't think anyone has said that HD hasn't won alot of games in their history. They have and most people know that. The part in question was the "dominance" of HD during the early 1990's not the dominance of the 30's and 70's. The "dominance" of the early 90's was obvisouly overstated.

I disagree. I stated that we had crushed the teams in our District. We did that. I never said we dominated in the playoffs. But the playoff teams we lost to in the early 90's were dominate and went deep in the playoffs. In 1990 we lost to Alto, which lost to the winner of State Groveton in the quarter finals. In 1991 we lost to a Grapeline team that made it to the quarter finals. In 1993 we lost to a Groveton team who made it to the quarter finals. In 1994 we lost to Alto, who lost to Groveton a semi finals team.
Bottom line is we played some bad to the bone teams in the first round every year. But that does not take away from how dominate we were in District. I remember players we had like Joe Allen Slack, Johnny Downs, Terry Don Fregia, Stevie Broussard,David Mitchell, David Redfern and Jim Simmons. We killed teams in District.
