I may get bad karma for this, but so be it. I honestly wanna call bull. Two years in a row Kville goes to state.. and 2 years in a row we dont get recognized. I just wish those that voted on this would pull thier heads outta the Golden Triangle long enough to see that there is DARN good talent out there... even if its a bit north of em.  ::)

I wouldn't call it either.  Both are great athletes that have bright futures.  JJ was very deserving as was any of the other 3 candidates.  Yes, he and Ford are probably the cream of the crop but to me the major factor was one was a Jr and the other a Sr.  If both were Sr.'s I think Ford has a leg up on him but not by much at all.  Either way you cut it they both deserved it.  As said congrats to JJ and best of luck at WV.  It will be hard for anyone else to get it next yr if Ford has another great season while moving up a class.

Logic is nice and I can agree but "kville made it to state so its fords award" not only is a knock on jj but it isn't logical...kville making it to state was a team effort this is an award for individual talent

I never said a word about making it to state if you are refering to my post.  But since you mention individual talent you are telling me that 2,000 yards rushing in ANY class isn't noteworthy??  Both of these young men had great individual seasons post season excluded...Do your homework hoss!

To be nominated is a great honor in itself and you could make a case for Ford easily but JJ touches the pigskin every single play and sets the tempo for his team.I look at it like who could help every team the most in SETX.I don't vote just a retired outsider who loves HS football.

I disagree. If Ford is a senior, JJ still wins the award.

I like you AAW, but we just gonna have to disagree on that one big guy. ;)

I don't have a problem with us disagreeing as long as you understand that I am right. ;)

Very good point, but look at it this way.  Look at Ford's touches compared to his yards and see what his avg's were.  The problem is that I see that he and JJ could've made a difference/impact on any team in the area.  That's where it is so close in my eyes.  I want to make myself clear on this....I am not unhappy in any case tht JJ won.  He was very deserving of it and the voters saw it that way.  He was clearly the best "Sr" in SETX this yr....Sorry AAW had to throw that out there. lol

And yes, it is a great honor to just be nominated for this award.

He (Johnson) is a very good athlete, Best of luck to him at the next level. if Ford stays healthy he will be the frontrunner for the award nxt season.
You would think Ford would be the frontrunner next year, but I know of a couple of QB's in the Mid County area and one on the Westside that might steal his thunder!
Sports Illustrated, Rivals.com, Scout.com, the 60 school that started sending him letters after his sophomore season, and the 25 schools that offered him a scholarship were not from the Golden Triangle. There are several previous award winners that did not play in a state game. The award is not a team award, although the players need their teammates in order to be successful. Ford is a great runner and nobody can take that from him. He should be motivated to finish his career on a high note and make sure he does not have a let down his Senior year. Good luck to all of the SETX Athletes next season.

First of all I feel Fred Ford should have won the award,(got that out of the way)I hear a lot of talk about no player ever get's this award if your'e not from a big Town or the Golden Triangle area..Welllllllll Silsbee is certainly not a Metropolis, although it's 3 times the size of Kirbyville,Beaumont when compared to Houston, Is like comparing Evadale to Beaumont...(not knocking any town's)..I know the WRS award was given to Jeff Spikes of Burkeville..It has been done before, I just feel that over 2,000 yards rushing and 35 TD's deserves more than just saying,"well done my lad"...JMO
