After spending two years in the Southland Conference’s Louisiana-heavy East Division, and the past two years in the all-Texas West Division, Lamar has agreed to take up permanent residence in the East starting next season. Cardinal basketball coach Steve Roccaforte probably wishes the move had already been made, seeing as how the West is so dominant. Entering Saturday’s games, teams in the West owned a 17-4 edge over Eastern teams in conference play. The Cardinals were 2-3 vs. the West and 3-1 against the East.

Well, it's true.

Being in the SLC East benefits SFA or Lamar - whichever is in there. This is across ALL sports. The funding gap continues to grow.

Also, Lamar's #1 rival - McNeese - is in the SLC East. For SFA, they lose their two contests against SHSU annually.

Why move when you can't win in this one?

I think it's better to lose in a good confeence than in a bad conference.

    • I can’t help but feel for Anahuac in this game. A lot of buzz and excitement around the team this year, and there is not a more talented team in the district.  But it looks like they still have some issues with discipline and consistency. They keep getting in their own way.    They have an amazing coaching staff and good athletes who are also great young men. I hope they find a way to get over whatever hill is blocking them from being the program they’re capable of being
    • Worst week of the season. Glad it happened earlier than usual.
