Bear,
I have been attending Vidor games for over 10 years.  I have never once heard a racial remark made by anyone.  Now im sure some idiot here in Vidor has said something that has embarrassed the 99.99% of our community.  We are working hard at changing the image that has been given to us by a few individuals many years ago.
It seems that every thread that has anything to do with Vidor leads to some type of racial comment.  The people of Vidor today are not the people of Vidor 40 years ago.  Many times I have heard racial comments directed to our players in one sport or another and I have never commented or judged that community by the ignorance of a few idiots.  Please give us the same courtesy.  Dont feed the fire by making comments that make all of us look bad

And btw, the fan's conduct at last seaon's homecoming game against LCM was shameful and embarrassing.

Enlighten me on this
Several flare-ups resulted in a group of Vidor fans (overflow, had to sit on LCM side) had to be escorted out by police for inappropriate behavior, though in fairness, an LCM student was also forced to leave.  There was also reports of less-than-friendly heckling by Vidor fans as LCM walked to and from the locker room at half-time and at the end of the game.  Most comments were simply untasteful, although there were reports (and I, at the concession stand, heard one fan myself) of racial slurs...However, i am obviously calling out vidor fans in general.

and that should not be a factor in your rankings either

Championship teams are made up front on the lines.
that said, PNG may be losing a stud RB and some WR and DB's, but our OLine and DLines will be back in full force with extras for rotation. The QB will be back for year #2 under Faircloth. The big question marks will be at WR and DB (anyone who saw Sophomore Bertrand run on JV last year knows we will be good at RB). Two names to remember from our undefeated JV, both Sophomore WR's, Nelson and Lacour.

Not picking just yet, but I like the fact that the NDNs return some meat!

True, PNG is losing a "stud running back", but remember, he wasn't a stud RB LAST yr.  He only became a "stud" under the new system, and I look to re-load with another better than average RB again this yr.  We'll be fine,  trust me.

Yeah with as many players as PNG has, they are never worried about a loss of seniors, and i don't think the importance of a hard-working off-season can be stressed enough (10-15 pounds, added speed, strength, and improved skill set.)  Take LCM's gameday programs from the last two years-being the only one i can back with factual evidence: you can see significant added weight on almost all of the non-linemen.

Ok first comment of the year. I think though I check on here most days. After the story on the Vidor Central either Pre or Post game prayer I dont think its fair to tie the Vidor program to the old Vidor ways years ago. Coach Matthews is a class act in Vidor and it looks like he is working very hard to teach his kids more than just football.

Central, Yes we all know Central has speed and is probly one of the Fastest Teams in this Region year in and year out , possibly the state..
But ive notice that can only get you so  far on just your speed and athletisim. i think if we want to be in it next year for the long run, winning district and going farther this year then we have the pass 2 years, were gone to have to be discipline..Just My Opinon

I agree.  Look at Angleton.  That was the fastest team I have ever seen.  They were just lacking diciplene and coaching.

Yea..Thats a really good team..
But Yea i think if we get more diciplene with the Speed and athlelets we have, we can be in it next year, in district n play-offs..
From what i heard this Group comeing up is one of the most Athletic classess as a whole to come thur here, just no diciplene

I agree, but speed is the only thing that can not be coached up and i know coach washington will and is coaching his them right know during the offseason to be more discipline. But as lone as Central has the speed that it has they will always have an advantage on most teams they face not only in 20-4a but the state.
True.
Speed is the only thing that cant be coached.. So As long as we have our speed and can be more discipline, I see Us being really good thus year..

Looks like Bear is living in glass houses and shouldn't be throwing rocks at anyone.  Look what you said about Vidor in this post.  Looks like someone needs to get out of the kitchen. ::)

Umm..I know everone wants to believe that Because their JV was Really good their Varsity team will be the same way.

But im here to tell you, IMO just because your JV teams were so good dosent mean your Varsity team will be all that next year..

1. This is Varsity. Everythings Faster, Bigger and Stronger. The Team you whopped up on is working that much harder to do the same to you..
2. Some players may respond Diffrent to the Varsity level.. You may say Football is football no matter who you play, But why do you think You get draft Bust every Year..
3. You never know What Juniors from last Year Played Varsity but didnt start, maybe thats why the JV wasnt so good.. Ever Thought about that..

IDK that was just On my mind. Now im not saying they wont be good..Im just tired of seeing Our JV, was like this or we went undefeated on JV. Not just on here, Every were

    • Well Mustang fans it's time for my annual end of season rant. I've had so much company up here on the soapbox that I may have to start charging rent. After 3 years I don't think anything needs to be said. We all know what's wrong. We all know why. So what's the decision at the next board meeting? IMO, there's been enough imaginary success for the board to rubber stamp the Superintendent's vision for our future student athletes. #make every second count Due to soft scheduling and a weaker than normal district. The luck of knocking off 2 ranked opponents early when they were not healthy or still trying to figure it out. Also led to a premature ranking and a hollow DCTF weekly award. The 2 late season losses vs ranked teams proves what we know has been the biggest problem.  Football 19-15 .559 Baseball 9-35 .205 Basketball 19-35 .352 GBB 11-29 .275 Softball 1-22 .043 Volleyball 0-38 .000 Overall 59-174 .253   For anyone living in the district, I ask that you contact you're elected board members publicly and privately. Don't let them think this is exceptable. Be the solution to the equation. Not the divisor. This starts at the top and falls heavily upon those walking the halls. They deserve better.
    • I don't think it's 6-5 maybe 4-3
    • Sounds like a good idea, and something’s been needed for a long time. I know—where my kids & grandkids live now (DFW area)—schools are like revolving doors for athletic purposes. I don’t think the DPISD & LPISD option enrollment are anywhere like that. I assume it’s pretty above board since it was an arrangement apparently agreed to also by the state. I do know some kids that went to LPISD elementary schools in DP chose to go to DPHS because of the district rating. (Of course, at the time, DPISD and DP in general wasn’t very racially mixed like La Porte.) LPISD has a high number of kids on assistance programs compared to DP. Say what you will, it does make it more difficult for educational purposes and scores can reflect as much. LPISD is still rated high even with that challenge. Some of the kids that chose DPHS were very solid athletes that I’m sure LP would love to have had attend LPHS. Of course, part of the big rivalry between DP & LP has always been because DP ‘looked down’ on LP even though we worked side-by-side. Now that Shell DP refinery has been sold to PEMEX, DP is changing. Some aren’t happy about it. Some of us in LP are kinda tickled about it after the history.
