PNG1992
it cant be a good think to install a brand new defense midway through the season. that being said it cant be a good think to allow 63 or 42 points in a game either.....
JMay
Throw out the records in this one. Both teams got embarrassed last week. Not that either need any motivation for this one. I'll take the Dogs to make or break their season. If they don't win here there goose is cooked. Big Ned 24 NDNs 22. I think Moshier is the difference Friday night. Guest Penny
Dogs27, you can't stick to an arguement to save your life. Quit blaming the coaches. We didn't tackle, we were there but didn't get it done. We had the hands team in on the onside kick, they didn't make the play.. .don't know why, the kids just didn't. You may need to take a step back and think before you shoot a post. Razor had you pegged, I saw it same as he... I don't get where you come from. restless natives
I am not sure what happend to Nederland's defense the last two games' date=' as I once thought they were pretty darn good. Having said that, [b']PNG is so bad this year it won't matter. Nederland runs all over PNG this Friday. It will be the Mosley show. Hey BH89...What the he!! is this crap??? PN-G has wins against some solid teams already this year. It seems every time there's a thread that has anything to do with PN-G you find a way to throw some negative bull at them. What's the problem????????

Guest Penny
I'm voting that we not play the Transferral of Blame game period. I will point out coaching mistakes as soon as the next guy, it just cracks me up when we get absolutely blown out the joint and it's because we weren't calling the right plays? We moved the ball without Mosely and were very aggressive with first down passing. Our defense came out in a new alignment in the hope of containing the run with DJ and Benton at dual OL like positions... we blitzed on almost every play... what the heck do you want. I'll let it rest, but GoDogs27, you have a penchant for carelessly throwing blame around without fact... you even went back on some of your own comments. Maybe I'm just weird... don't answer that Titan, but I like to have facts to back up the points being made... and at least stick to them, I may disagree, but at least we can discuss the points versus criticizing for the sake of criticizing and then taking it back when someone like Razor or myself disagrees. GoDogs27
ok penny let me explain myself.... first off i never said anything about playcalling and if i did point it out and ill gladly admit that im wrong... and razor did make a valid point with the coaching at Central, I still believe the scheme was flawed, it obviously was... im not trying to bash anyone... i played for these very same coaches, why would i want to bash them.. i think they are great.. but their decision not to put 9 people on the front line in Vidor to me just didnt make sense.... thats all... i think the combination of coaching and players mistakes led to these two losses, but that doesnt change the fact that i still think we have the best group of coaches in the area BAR NONE.... Guest Penny
I guess that's what I don't understand, you say the defensive playcalling was poor versus the obvious Central offense... yet when Razor states the fact that we were right there all night and just didn't tackle... you say, yeah you're right. So was the defensive play calling still poor, or did we not tackle well... which is it? Nederland did have the hands team in there, you may disagree with how Neumann sets up his hands team, but many don't put all their player in one solid line across the restraining line. Most stagger their 9 men to create some depth for the possible high hop the kicker tries to create. I don't think you put 9 on the restraining line for an onside kick, you stagger your nine, like Neumann had them setup. Again, the hands team was in there, they knew it was coming, eventually it comes down to a player making a play.

Razor
Mosley did not take a beating against Central. I think he was in for maybe 2 plays before he was pulled. Bottom line was, he simply was not ready physically to play. Another week of rest should do him well and I expect him to be a go for MCM.
MikeEast
I dont really think you can blame anyone, especially not the coaches for the overall performance. When the kids are in position, but cannot make the play, not one single play, its not coaching. Its poor execution. Granted Ned has always given up yards, but not points and not big plays. If there are lacking coaching techniques, the only one I can think of is they have not perfected their coaching techniques on how to finish an open field tackle. Even great Nederland defenses of the past decade have struggled with missed tackles. I can remember too many nights wringing my hands in frustration at the missed oportunities where the defenses failed to finish the job. They gave up yards, but in the end they did not let anyone score on them. Nederlands defenses have always been best when they can control the ballcarrier and force them into heavy traffic. That was how they stifled offenses in the past. They never gave up a big play either. I can remember years and years where you never saw a RB sprint for the goal line against the Dogs D. I remember the term "bend, but dont break" used a lot when describing them because they gave up yards, but not points. So yeah, maybe tackling is a coaching issue but don't ask me how to fix it. Maybe ask Coach Matthews, Vidor was great at it. My point is, in the past they were successful defensively despite the fact they missed a few tackles because they were able to force the offense to run into traffic because they controlled the line, eventually forced the ball carrier into a crowd and then swarmed. Now they are super easy to spread out and are forced to try to tackle a ballcarrier running at full stride in the open field too frequently. If you dont force them to slow down, and you cannot tackle in the open field, you are dead. So IMO Nederland needs to figure out how to do one or the other and fast. ulikecucmiiike
ive talked about this before. i was shocked to see what the LCM did to Port Neches last friday nite.i went and saw the indains play against silsbee and that hemmings boy was a good back.if PNG just give him that ball about 25 times hes like a bull.i have not seen Nedeland this year in person but ive read and it seems the defense is a little down. i also have read that michal mosley may not play.that would hurt the dogs team.i have to think the indains had a horrable nite against LCM and will have to bounce back some.because they are playing at the indain field ill take them boys from pot neches.but if they make me look bad again ill not pickem anymore this year.i wish i could goto that one but tickets are hard to come by.so ill maybe go see lumbeton get it on with the central.i bet the raiders wont be so talkative after that one son. jimmy
