UIL All-Century Girls Basketball Teams Announced

AUSTIN, TX— The University Interscholastic League, as part of its Centennial Celebration, has announced the UIL All-Century Girls Basketball Teams as selected by the fans. Fans cast more than 7,400 votes for their favorite girls basketball players in Texas high school history.

For the past 100 years, UIL athletes have given fans some of the most memorable and exciting moments in sports. The U.I.L. would like to recognize these outstanding performers as it celebrates a century of excellence.

The U.I.L. All-Century Girls Basketball Teams as selected by the fans include:

First Team

Erin Grant, Mansfield - Guard
Kamie Ethridge, Lubbock Monterey - Guard
Sheryl Swoopes, Brownfield - Forward
Tamika Catchings, Duncanville - Forward
Stacy Stephens, Winnsboro - Center

Second Team

Brooke Baughman, Canyon - Guard
Melinda Schmucker, Nazareth - Guard
Jolee Ayers, Canyon - Forward
Mildred "Babe" Didrikson, Beaumont - Forward
Britney Griner, Houston Nimitz - Center

Third Team

Teresa Weatherspoon, West Sabine - Guard
Krista Kirkland, Sudan - Guard
Clarissa Davis, San Antonio Jay - Forward
Tiffany Jackson, Dallas Lincoln/Duncanville - Forward
Amber Tarr, Ozona - Center

I guess that means we can say that Babe is the best basketball player from SE Texas.  This is a very impressive group when you have super talent even on the 3rd team.

And what about the girl who slung her? That was not part of the game and I would of been upset also. The girl was clearly trying to bully her. If one then both should be!!!!!

Griner isn't going any where, I'm really gonna watch her play now :o. It's tournament time, ratings and money, Griner/Uconn, Griner/Tennesse I wanna see that, I wanna see how she handles those types of programs. :o
