KFDM COOP Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 No. 4 Bobcats keep rollingGabriel Pruett The Orange LeaderORANGEFIELD — Before its late game Thursday night against Tyler All-Saints, the Orangefield Bobcats had played three games which lasted five innings each.The 3-0 Bobcats first steam rolled Liberty 16-1 before taking down Buna 11-1.It was much the same Thursday at the Orangefield Baseball Tournament as the No. 4 Bobcats put a 14-1 hurting on the Beaumont Central Jaguars.Corey Huckabay is feeling right at home in Orange and White as he scored three of the four times he came to the plate with a single and a RBI triple.Quinton Evans notched the win on the mound with four innings of work giving up one run on two hits with no walks and six strike outs.The lone Central run came in the first inning as the first two batters hit singles. It was the last hits Evans gave up.Texas A&M-bound Jace Statum scored twice with a double and also was a part of the best defensive play of the day.Statum made a running grab in the top of the fifth and then turn to fire back to first to double up a Central baserunner.Evans helped himself in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer which also scored Chase Angelle.Orangefield scored five in the first and then scored five more in the third.Derrick Evans had a two-RBI triple in the third and he also scored twice in the game.Jonathan Deramus scored twice after hitting a double and walking two times in the game. Kyle Fontenot also scored twice.Jacob Felts picked up a late RBI in the game after not being able to get much to hit much of the night. Felts did his part though on defense by catching a runner stealing in the first inning.The Port Arthur Memorial Titans notched two wins Thursday with a 6-5 win over Silsbee and a 12-7 victory over East Chambers. Kirbyville defeated Deweyville 9-3, Lumberton shut out Hamshire-Fannett 3-0 before losing to Beaumont Kelly 6-3.Deweyville will face Silsbee at 9 a.m. today at Buna High School while Hamshire-Fannett and Central will tangle at 9 a.m. at Orangefield. Kirbyville will face East Chambers at 11:15 a.m. at Buna while Buna and Memorial will face off at 6 p.m.
