Always known as a hotbed for talent West Orange-Stark High School in Southeast Texas appears to be on the verge of producing a few more Division 1 prospects in the Class of 2011. QB Reggie Garrett could be the next in that line of prospects for Coach Dan Hooks' crew.

West Orange Stark's Reggie Garrett

The 6'2 180 pound junior with 4.6 speed has been a letterman since his freshman year but in 2009 he stepped to the forefront for WOS throwing for 1264 yards and 11 touchdowns, while also rushing for 13 touchdowns and 402 yards.

Garrett who describes himself as a dual threat QB with a strong arm is very accurate and confident in the short to intermediate passing game.

"I think I can make any throw with accuracy under 20 yards, but I want to improve my accuracy throwing the deep ball and also getting a quicker throwing motion," replied the signal caller from the Golden Triangle.

At this time Reggie is getting interest from Missouri, Texas A&M, Houston and New Mexico, but he doesn't have any favorites at this time.

"I'm really wide open at this time, I think once I get to see some schools in person I'll really shape my list. I plan on hitting the camp circuit this summer and hopefully that will open my eyes up some," said Garrett.

Garrett besides the camp circuit will keep busy as he tries to lead West Orange-Stark back to the 7 on 7 State Tournament after a two year hiatus. In addition to the summer camps and 7 on 7 Reggie will run track this spring for WOS as he specializes in the 400.

The future Architecture major is unsure on his timetable for a decision, "I really want to take my time and make the right decision. I am sure my family will help me out a lot, I think I'll probably really narrow things down after my senior year which hopefully ends in a state championship."

speed kills.  but if the players dont choose to run fast, all the speed in the world wont help.  i hope the players at WOS choose to use their speed this year and i hope they dont let the college offers  go to their heads.  but after last year im not going to get excited about all of this bragging and hype. i will attend  every game this year. you will find me on the top row with Coach Owens.  i also hope that Coach Owens does a better job at play calling this year. i dont like to point fingers but Coach Owens, "you need to pick it up".
