KFDM COOP Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 PN-G secures outright crown led by ChiassonHIGH SCHOOL SOCCERThe Port Arthur NewsPORT NECHES — Port Neches-Groves girls 11, Bridge City 0 BRIDGE CITY -- Four more goals made Chloe Chiasson the 4A girls state scoring leader, according to her coach on Tuesday. "I've done research recently and four goals would make Chloe the state leader in scoring," Port Neches-Groves soccer coach Aimee Bates said after her Lady Indians whipped the Bridge City girls 11-0. It's difficult in such a large state to quantify Chiasson's state-wide lead but here are two factual items that should not be in question. First, the 11-0 win enabled PN-G (18-5 and 11-0) to clinch its second straight District 38-4A girls soccer championship outright. Second, the 50 goals in 2010 make Chiasson the school's all-time single-season goal-scoring leader at PN-G by a bunch. Megan Norris had 34 goals in 2000, the first year of the Lady Indians' participation in UIL-sanctioned soccer. Megan Elam produced three goals and four other PN-G girls had single goals -- Natalie Hager, Hayley Gerald, Corina Olua and Wesli Vincent. The Lady Indians owned a 10-0 halftime cushion. They complete their regular season Friday night on The Reservation against Beaumont Central at 5:30 p.m.
