36th Bobcats Relays all set

ORANGEFIELD — The 36th annual Orangefield Bobcat Relays will be held today at Orangefield High School. The scratch meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m. followed by the start of the field events at 3:30 p.m. The running finals will begin at 6:15 p.m. Boys and girls teams in the field include the host Bobcats, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Vidor, West Orange-Stark, Silsbee, Port Neches-Groves, Nederland, Lumberton and Cathedral Christian. I imagine some of the better runners from each team in the area may also be going to TSU Relays this weekend while the rest of the team may run at area meets.

Yes, WO-S too.  I'm glad that WO-S, as a team, participated in this meet, but I think that it's wrong when you say...well, your TEAM can enter our meet, but only if your TWO BEST INDIVIDUALS don't.  Come on now.  That's a crock.  Besides, you will not be able to keep them out of district and you can only test yourself and get better if you run against the best/fastest.

Oh well, way to go Mustangs.  Not too shabby.  Wish I could go to the TSU relays, but job says I can not.  Good luck there too!

I agree..you can't get better without being pushed by the best.  ... speaking of the best... how bout those Lumberton 400 meter guys.  NICE!!!

Do you mean Franks and Haynes were not aloud to compete.

I totally agree.  No coach/school would say you couldn't bring your two best athletes.  That is crazy.

Well, I can tell you that two of the three runners stated that they were not allowed to compete.  No, I agree, it probably shouldn't happen, but it did.  And, yes, they are running in a better meet with more competition which will only help them in the long run.

Oh...my bad...it wasn't two...it was three!!!  ;)

Good to see Scott Poole running for Lumberton.  The kid has serious wheels and with Kyler Keith could make for a strong 1600 meter relay team (with some support from a couple of other kids).
