Mustang Baseball Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Burkeville is dead last for their district and have nowhere to go but up! Hopin they will pull ahead of colmesneil tuesday with the home field advantage!
Guest Burkeville Chronicle Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 It is true that the Mustangs are last in district, however, there are a few things to consider:1. Burkeville lost 4 key seniors last year...their ace pitcher, catcher, shortstop, and 1st baseman.2. The Mustangs are the youngest team in the area..two freshmen pitchers.3. 23 -1A is arguably one of the toughest districts in the entire state of Texas.4. The lack of a solid little leauge in Burkeville is very detrimental to baseball in Mustang land. These are just a few things to consider. You must also look that Burkeville has several young pitchers and good baseball players in 7th and 8th grade that play select baseball and will be good in a few years. Combine them with the talented youth on the modern squad and you can see that the future has potential. It is amazing...the same people that are talking against the team during these rough times will be praising them one day. I guess that happens everywhere. Keep fighting Mustangs! Some in this town believe in you!
