Boy we at BH know all about throwing too much.  We watched Ross Hales throw his arm nearly off his senior year so scouts could see him.  By playoffs he had nothing to offer.  Not a good approach if your playing as a team.

surely this is a mistake. How could a coach leave someone in that long?

JJ, that's incorrect. Hales threw 75 innings, Thamm 40 innings, and Silva 40 innings. Kelly, etc. threw the remaining. "07 Hales threw 75 innings and Thamm threw 75 innings. Now Hales did not miss a scheduled start in '08 but he was not overthrown. He was throwing w/ a "dead arm" that turns out to be a result of injury. He has since had surgery and I noticed he threw his 1st inning of the year for the Aggies earlier in the week. I do agree, however, that he should have skipped a couple of starts late in the season because of the shape of his arm. That's easier said than done when 20+ scouts are there to watch you.
Ultimately, it cost him...........poor kid ended up @ Texas A&M.  ;D ;D ;D
