Top 3 in district meet advance to regionals. Top 2 at Regionals advance to state.
RETIREDFAN1 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 This is 1A, AggiesAreWe....the top 4 from district advance to Area. The top 4 from Area advance to Regional.....the top 2 from Regional advance to State with a wildcard thrown in for good measure.....

RETIREDFAN1 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 The inequities of having a 3rd place district team running a 3:30 mile relay in one district and sitting at home while the district champion of another district ran a 4:04 and got lapped at regional is what led to it......now, the cream rises to the top and the Regional Meets are very competetive.

[/quote]That could be the case in any classification of any of the events. If they are going to allow 4 from district to advance in 1A and have an Area meet, it should be done in all classifications.
RETIREDFAN1 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 That is something you need to take up with the superintendents, then....this is how they have decided to solve the problem....
hddemon Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 They do this in 1-A because there are more schools running track then any other classification. This is a way they narrow the field down for regionals. Most 1A track districts have 14-15 teams.
AggiesAreWe Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 SETXsports will be at Evadale to cover the district meet starting Thursday morning!!
Kris_Gilmore Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Actually it is in the works right now for all classifications 1A - 5A to move to an area meet. You could see this in the next year or two. So all classes would go District, Area, Regionals, and then State. I was told it was going to happen next year at a clinic this past summer, but haven't heard anything recently.

The larger classifications will enjoy it as much as we have....it makes for a very competitive Regional Meet.....
