Pre Meet Favorites using the times and distances from the Rainey Relays that most of the schools attended. Not all of the district teams were part of this meet, but it give a good idea as to the wa things might come out.

Evadale was second to 2A New Waverly scoring 83 points. Colmesneil had 77 with High Island having 76. When you add in Hull-Daisetta it makes the boys team race too close to call.

The meet begins with the 3200 at 9 AM on Thursday. The running prelims follow then the field event concluding with the running finals.

Good luck to all the athletes and schools lets make this a great track meet. See you in Evadale on Thursday!

How many advance to Area, Regionals & State from each event?

This is what I'm thinking, but could be way off:

District takes top 4
Area takes top 3
Regionals takes top 2

Any help on this one?

Way off.

First of all, there is no Area track meet. Top 3 in district meet advance to regionals. Top 2 at Regionals advance to state.

This is 1A, AggiesAreWe....the top 4 from district advance to Area.  The top 4 from Area advance to Regional.....the top 2 from Regional advance to State with a wildcard thrown in for good measure.....

Thanks Coach, see you Thursday.

Why is 1A done that way and not the other classifications?

The inequities of having a 3rd place district team running a 3:30 mile relay in one district and sitting at home while the district champion of another district ran a 4:04 and got lapped at regional is what led to it......now, the cream rises to the top and the Regional Meets are very competetive.

That could be the case in any classification of any of the events.

If they are going to allow 4 from district to advance in 1A and have an Area meet, it should be done in all classifications.

Actually it is in the works right now for all classifications 1A - 5A to move to an area meet.  You could see this in the next year or two.  So all classes would go District, Area, Regionals, and then State.  I was told it was going to happen next year at a clinic this past summer, but haven't heard anything recently.

Good.  The larger classifications will enjoy it as much as we have....it makes for a very competitive Regional Meet.....

    • I too, wish #15 was healthy and playing.  And also another RB (can't recall the #), who went down in the first game of the season. But, some others have stepped up and are hard runners.  I'm really looking forward to watching this game.
    • Still, from what little I saw, it should have been a much closer game.  WOS was missing some fundamentals on defense, and a lack of imaginative play calling on offense.  Just my opinion as an objective observer on Texan Live, which was horrible btw, but that's another story.
    • Either way,one game lead in the series. I rely to much on word of mouth
    • West Orange Stark has been a powerhouse since I csn remember. At some point, your bound to fall off to some degree. Alabama has 3 or 4 loses this season. Who would have thought? Has Orange lost kids to LCM or even Orangefield?
    • Interesting matchup this Friday. Both teams have very good offensive and defensive lines, which will make this game interesting. Having watched Texas High all season, they have a wide open offense with very good skill players. If you look at their stats they run the ball 57% of the time and pass 43% of the time. Personally, that is a bit deceiving, as most of their games have seen reserves running the ball in the 4th quarter. I would estimate the primary offense is 50/50. Through 12 games they have run for 3,224 yds (48tds) and passed for 2,894 yds (32 yds). Potter, the Tiger QB, has been very efficient with a 69% completion rate and 1 interception (which came from a tipped pass). The passing is distributed primarily to 4 receivers…. Ball (865), Wrightner (811), Montgomery (532), & Pilgreen (392). The rushing comes from 3 running backs … Johnson (1,432), Ball (768) & Moore (716).  The Tiger defense is solid and very quick.    Hope #15 is healthy enough to play. He is a test for any defense. I was concerned about the Nederland RB, but felt Texas High did a good job containing him. I wish this game was in the afternoon, as Nachitoches is having their Festival of Lights and their will not be any rooms in the inns and restaurants will be full so plan accordingly. PNG are state champions until someone knocks them off, so I extend the Indians the respect they deserve. Pulling for the Tigers.
